In a contest that matches humans against some of the world's hottest chili peppers, no one wins. Last week, a restaurant in Edinburgh, Scotland, held a competition to eat the extra-hot Kismot Killer curry. Some of the competitive eaters were left writhing on the floor in agony, vomiting and fainting.

According to reports, two British Red Cross workers overseeing the event at the Kismot Indian restaurant in Edinburgh but became overwhelmed by the number of casualties and ambulances were called. Half of the 20 people who took part in the challenge dropped out after witnessing the first diners vomiting, collapsing, sweating and panting.

Care to repost your chili recipe? I've only recently started making my own chili. Always on the lookout for tips n tricks. Do you make a separate batch for your family?Yeah, it's too hot for them. I entered it in a chili cookoff and won hottest chili for it. One of the judges told me it made her cry.

I'll try and find it for you.

This one is not for sissies.

1 pound ground beef
2 cups of pinto beans (less if you have a small crock pot)
3 strips of bacon
1 red onion
4 habaņero peppers
8 jalapeņos
2 ghost chilis chopped
1 bell pepper
5 tablespoons red chili powder
1 tablespoon cayenne pepper
1 tablespoon jalapeno powder
Course ground black pepper (pepper mill recommended)2 cups of pinto beans in the crock pot add water to about halfway up the crock pot. Cut 3 strips of bacon into inch squares and add. Cook on low overnight.

Brown the ground beef. Sprinkle a lot of black ground pepper to season the beef. I usually grind the pepper mill for about 15 to 20 seconds. Drain the oil.

Add the ground beef to the cooked beans.

Finely dice the jalapeņo peppers, habaņero peppers, ghost chilis, bell pepper, and red onion. Add to the mixture along with 5 tablespoons of red chili powder, 1 tablespoon of cayenne pepper, 1 tablespoon of jalapeņo powder.

Cook for 4 hours stirring every 15 minutes.

Serve with grated cheese and Fritos and lots of ice water. Woowee.

I'm sweating just reading that...

I've wanted to make a hotter batch for myself and my daughter. Does it work to cook a full batch, then split some off and throw the fire in there? Or does it need to be in there for the whole cook?

I've never put bacon in my Chili. I might have to try that next time. I use kidney beans rather than pintos. I think I just prefer the harder bean casing.

You will never go back. I brown up a big batch of bacon bits first, then brown up chunks of beef in the bacon fat.

Also, I use a can of pintos and a can of kidneys in mine.

Oh you pre-cook the bacon? I was going to toss it in raw like I do when I cook pinto beans. Let it cook in the Chili.

Odd. Sometimes I have to add mesa flour to thicken mine up depending how I make it.

I think pre-cooking the bacon is a must. Fried up to the point where it just becomes crispy, but not hard.

Its those ghost peppers that scare me.

I might make that for my dad's annual chili cookoff at his office, though. The people at the office are fascinated with hot stuff.

Got a big batch going today. Made it up and split it in two. Added Jalapenos, Serranos and Habaneros to one batch and some extra chili powder and cayenne pepper. Don't know where I could find ghost peppers around here, and don;t know that I could actually eat the chili if there were some in there.
