It's fun to look back at drafts and seel players in retrospect that were hall of famers but weren't the first player picked. Kind of adds credence to the take the best player available argument. I can't remember where LT was taken but in retrospect if you were the first team picking wouldn't you have taken him regardless of your needs. We need players that can alter the course of a game, difference makers. It makes me wonder, out of this draft, who will we look back on and say he was a no brainer?

Probably no one but I hope we get someone who can play as well as he can with any pick. That draft will be considered a great success.

There has not been another LT since the orginal LT was drafted by the Giants.

ya know DCKID I've noticed on this board people try and give the benefit of doubt on spelling and actually other than this post by you I have not seen anyone bashed or called out for spelling or grammer mistakes........This has been the most friendly board I've been to and I for one would like to keep it that way.......are there dissagreements? yes all the time but for the most part there civil.........other than the ocasionly TROLL were all diehard Cowboy fans so how bout show a little respect and give the guy a break...... If your looking for a board to call out every mistake and "flame" them then may I suggest scout.com or Espn boards........................... :skins:

LT's come along about once in every 20 years so chances are there wont be a this year's LT.

There will very likely be a 3rd rounder who goes onto Pro Bowls though and I'd love Dallas to find that guy. I wish I knew who that was but if I did I'd have a better and more rewarding job.

If you want to decide based on sheer physicality on who will be this year's LT, it would have to be Shawne Merriman. He's huge, fast, and liable to run somebody over.

Actually, I can't see the next LT in this draft. I can't see the next Troy Aikman, Emmiit Smith, Michael Irvin, Charles Haley, etc., either. At first i was bummed that Buffalo finished as high as they did because our first round pick from them ended up being lower than I had hped. But it's worked in our favor because I don't see too many gems at the top of this draft.

There is one guy at DE/LB that I do like and that's Pollack (sp?). Yes, I know, he's one of the 'names' in this draft but he gets some knock for his size. I think he'll slip a little for that and the team he falls to will be fortunate.

If there's a player in this draft that will make us look back ten years from now and say, he's the big difference maker from this draft... I think it'll be Mike Williams.

If he pans out like I think he might, he could really be a weapon.

Do you think he can do what guys like Jerry Rice and Michael Irvin did - change the way their teams played offense, and executed to such a leadershiop level that they took their teams into the playoffs and won Championships? If so, then shouldn't Dallas package their picks to trade up and grab him?

The only person I've ever mocked for a spelling error is the bufoon "ArmageddenEagle" who misspelled his own username!

If he were not an Eagles fan, I'd have even let that one slide. :D

I do not know about the whole LT thing, but to answer your question about who will be the can't miss guy looking back 2 years from now, it will be..........

Mike Williams!

MW is one of the best College Football players I have ever seen. He dominated his competition as a Freshman and Sophmore. The guy is a pure football player.

I could care less that he can not run under a 4.58 in shorts.

He is big, physical, a huge target, runs good routes, is smart, has high character, runs DB's over, and has one of the best set of hands I have ever seen.

He is the real deal IMO!

I remember everytime I watched, he just looked like a man amongst boys at 18 years old. I would just watch, and say to myself man I wish he was a Dallas Cowboy.

IMO he has STAR written all over him!

I'll defer to your obviously superior intelligence.

Anyway He may not be the next LT but the more I read about David Pollack the more I like him. For anyone that hasn't picked up the sporting news draft guide here are some tidbits about him. 6-2 1/4 260 lbs. 4.70 40 yd. dash. Against the run, uses hands extremely well.

Pass rush: quick agile powerful and explosive. Changes direction quickly. Never quits when attacking the paser. Shows intiial quickness and closing burst of an elite edge rusher. Forces a lot of fumbles from quarterbacks. Is relentless. Lacks the speed to run past offensive tackles. Lacks the height and long arms to bat down a lot of passes.

Pursuit tackling: Never quits on a play. Is a powerful tackler; makes big plays.

Bottom link: Polack is an elite playmaker who improved his draft stock by staying in school in 2004. He makes up for his lack of height and elite speed with quickness, intensity, instincts, power and relentlessness. There isn't a more competitive or hard-working player in this class.

"You can alalyze it all you want, but he's going to be a hell of a player," says one AFC souct. "He doesn't look it , but the kid is an animal.

"You basically go into games knowing you're down one man," says Auburn coach Tommy Tuberville, "because if you don't use a fullback or the tight end to help out, he'll kill you."

There will never be another LT. Ever. Period. Just like there will never be another Deion or another Reggie White.
