Here's part of the job description for center from Dallas' scouting directive:

-- He's responsible for pocket depth.
-- He must get movement in the running game.
-- He must be athletic enough to block after snapping the ball. He must have quickness and balance and strength.

from what couchscout said in his thread in the Fan Zone, Costa is very slow to get out of his stance; that was why they were blowing by him. To compound the problem, he would stand upright allowing them all to get under his pads and that let Spikes among others blow him away despite being 50 lbs or so lighter.

This is what we get for going cheap, say what you want about Gurode but he never got steamrolled like Costa. If we had a decent OL we could probably have been contenders this season but with the current like we'll be lucky to make the playoffs
