It's a great time to be a Cowboy fan.
We have arguably the best coach in the NFL, easily the best owner in the NFL, 4 significant upgrades through free agency, two 1st round draft picks and a promising mix of youth and experience going into this next season.

LOL, no this is not a great time to be a Cowboys fan, not yet at least. Our QB hasn't moved his feet since 1997, our pro-bowl guard suddenly has a bad back, we don't even know what kind of defense we are going to play, we don't have an FS, we have 2 first round picks in a draft where there are only a few people you can be sure are first rounders, we don't have a pass rusher, we still have to play the eagles twice.
And the bills are better than us...try living in upstate NY when you have the bills QB that everybody here hated and they have what seems to be one of the best backs in the geame. No, this is not a great time.

It will be alot better when we actually win some games. I for one dont want to get wrapped up in what I call the "Snyder Syndrome", this team still has alot to prove in my opinion.

Did we just win another super bowl???
Its always great to be a Cowboy fan and be part of this forum.
The best time is always the chase :).........as long as you get what you are looking for....
Bill is going about it a little different than what I hoped........but who am I to question that.
As long as Bill goal is too win a SB and I think it is.....but then again the words "I'm too old to lose" still haunts me. I just don't want us to become a 8-8 team for several years.

Well, I will say we have one of the best coaches in the NFL.
We have a good owner, who is very passionate about the Cowboys, and winning, but I would not call him the best Owner in the NFL. He is trying very hard though, and I like him a lot.
And we had both of these factors last year, and it got us no where.
The question though, and most important is both of their ability to aquire better players.
So far I give them an A for effort this off-season, but much yet remains to be seen.
Yes, some of our youth is very exciting, ROY, JULIUS, WITTEN, NEWMAN.
But we need more, and IMO this is our most important Draft since the early Walker trade era.
That in itself is exciting. Let's just hope we are all excited during the Playoffs next year!

It seems some of you missed the point.
If you don't consider now to be a good time for us then you must forget what it's like to have the likes of Dave Campo running the show and no first round draft pick whatsoever because we traded it for a player who has yet to perform to his potential. Not to mention having Chutch as the best option at QB waiting in the wings and no future at RB.
As far as Jerra being the best owner in the NFL... That's a matter of opinion I guess but I wasnt saying that I like him personally but that he has more pull than any other owner and wants win as badly if not more than any other. He will do whatever it takes to be back on top and is very successful in getting his man. Im just glad hes on our side.

I would agree!
We are sitting a whole lot better right now than in the Campo Era. No Question, despite last year!
I am just ready to start being a legitimate threat again!
We are getting closer.

Not to mention that you spelled Game wrong, but the McGahee being one of the best backs in the NFL???? He certainly is showing promise, but to call him one of the best in the game is a bit premature

Actually, it has kind of sucked been a Dallas Cowboys fan for the last couple of years.
Unfortunately, this team has know identity at the moment at key levels (defense, qb etc etc).
If it doesn't get better, I may have to end my little 10 year streak of going to about 2-4 games a year :( .

It's always a great time to be a Cowboys fan, but honestly the mid to late 70's and the mid 90's were the absolute best times. :) No, strike that, the best time to be a Cowboys fan is an hour after we've beaten the Eagles in any game. :D

Brodney Pool in the 2nd round and this offseason is a complete success.
The other 2 first rounders will be complete gravy. :D

He will do whatever it takes to be back on top and is very successful in getting his man. Im just glad hes on our side. You see, this is the problem- he won't do whatever it takes. If that were the case, he would've removed himself from the GM position allowed a true GM to do the job. I'm a big Jones fan but his tragic flaw has always been his reluctance to put aside his ego for the greater good. That being said, he is certainly the most willing to spend the necessary dollars and I think he truly cares about the team.

Well put.
My first thought was February of 2000.
There were a lot of posters excited about Campo and Galloway, etc., but I wasn't one of them. That was a sickening off-season for me.
Jerry was really on a roll. Settled for Campo as head coach, overpaid big time for a receiver who was just interested in collecting a paycheck, then drafted three cornerbacks in April, one who is now in prison and another who collected a record number of fines and was off the team in less than two years. Oh, and Darren Hambrick was on the team, too.
Compared to that, yep, things look pretty good now.

I love how the homers always proclaim JJ as the Best Owner in the NFL because, according to them, "He does what it takes to win!".
Well, if I'm not mistaken, all teams pay tight up to the Cap ... no team says, "Nah, we'll just use half the Cap because we wanna save some money!"
I sure love JJ ... the same owner who drafted 4 starters from the 97-02 drafts. The same guy who threw away pick after pick after pick ... trying to prove to the world he's an NFL football maverick.
Well, I for one, am SICK of it!!! 8 years of losing can do that to a person. No one else is to blame but our wonderful owner.
