.......it will be on draft day.
I don't think that the trade will happen. I have been thinking about that one post where someone from this board was speaking to an ESPN employee and maybe Parcells is wanting everyone to think that he is staying with 4-3 so that he has a better chance of grabbing one of the DE/LB's.
He could have a front seven of Ellis, Ferguson, Glover on the line, and James, Dat, Al, and DJ/Merriman/Spears as the L'Backers.
But then again, JMO. Who knows until the draft is over.

.......it will be on draft day.I actually think it will be during the owner's meetings in Maui when they can all be face to face discussing the parameters of a deal. I think both parties want to get it done. The hang up is price.

The hang up is price.
By price I'm guessing you mean compensation. If that is the case, we will find out how good of a business man JJ really is. Ultimately it wouldn't surprise me if this doesn't get done because we won't want to give up what it would take to get him. I hope JJ doesn't fall into that "I gotta have this player" state of mind like he has in the past.

I also don't think that it is going to happen at all. It has been too long, and we can't afford to give up the 2nd round draft pick seeing as how we don't have a third. And, if Dat isn't going to go anywhere, what are we gonna trade other than draft picks, hopes and dreams of that pass rushing d-line we havent had since charles haley?

Spears a LB? You gotta be kidding, he is a tweener...but a DE/DT tweener. Not a DE/OLB tweener.
October 18: NFL trading deadline
Thats when this will officially be over.
$16M SB, $35M Demands for a DT/DE that is going to be 29 this season, recent injury history(Knee Surgery, neck, broken wrist) who has never made the Pro Bowl.
a #2 and Dat?,
We traded our #3, our #6 already. Just not happening. This wreaks of a Danny Boy signing actually. Without Parcells in town, it would have happened already....JMO
PASS,
Next year #3 and Al S!

Goodness gracious Nors! I will give you credit for sticking to your guns, but you are starting to sound like one of the radio stations we have here locally.
Just playing the same song over and over.
I agree with hos's take...morning hos...

This deal has to go down before the draft....if not, then it changes our entire approach to the draft.

If this trade gets done, I think it will be before the draft.
However, I don't think we give up anything more than a 2nd rounder this year, and maybe a 3-5 round pick next year.
Howard still a Saint, just checked again.
GOOD NEWS STILL 7 MONTHS TO TRADING DEADLINE!
Next week will be telling as Hos said at Owners meetings, once the principles get eye to eye the deal will get done (or it won't).

The thing is, if we get Howard, we only have 3 priorities on draft day: LB, safety and OT.

the saints are just trying to get one of our firsts. as we hold out they will give him up for a 2nd rounder because i think they WANT to start will smith.

I dont know. With Key, Glenn and Morgan, its not an immediate need like LB or safet.

Unless Braylon or Mike Williams falls to us I think we should wait til next year to get a WR.

I dont know. With Key, Glenn and Morgan, its not an immediate need like LB or safet.I think it is an immediate need. Key and Glenn are not spring chickens, Morgan is unproven and raw, Crayton and Copper still have a ways to go and I wouldn't want to rely on only them. We need a guy who 2 years from now if not next year, can be the guy. I'd rather groom a guy for a year than throw him under the bus as a rookie when we have no other options.

The trade may depend on who is available when the Cowboys pick.
They may be targeting another DE at 11 or 20.....and could be considering making the trade if that player does not fall to them.
Or...if Dat really is in the mix then they could be targeting a replacement MLB at 11 or 20 and will make the trade if that player falls to them.
Bottom line...if the Cowboys have an agreement in principle with Howard and they have an open offer on the table from NO.....then this gives them more options to work with.
Also, the Saints will run out of options on draft day. That will be the obvious cutoff for a trade if NO is looking to get a 2005 draft pick for Howard.

We do need a young WR liker Williamson or Roddy White with speed and hopefully some size to stretch the field and anticipate drafting behind ourselves at the WR position.
Maybe next year we can add another (2006) so we do not make the mistake of not replenishing the young talent pool as the older players wind down.
Dallas seems to be looking to get this done somewhere in this draft thank God.

I think Jones is waiting it out and will wait till after the draft and then trade a 2006 #2. He mentioned eariler that the closer you are to the draft the more valuable those picks tend to be.

I both agree and disagree Hos. Normally, wide receivers don't hit their stride until year 3 in the league. Besides...it may be Quincy behind the wheel and we aren't really sure where he's been the past few days. :D
But if use a high draft pick on a Wide Receiver, he's almost guaranteed a roster spot and if you like both Crayton and Copper, one is most certainly gone. I don't see Parcells keeping 6 receivers on this team.

Youve loss faith in that kid rogers already. we used a second on him last year. theres no need to draft an OT in high rounds. and to be frank we really dont need an OLB. Singleton has manned the job pretty well and i think only haas a year left on his contract any way. if we take a LB i think it should be in the 4th or if we get a third. Just like Brady James.

I agree. We definetly need a WR. Morgan is a nobody. We could of gotten better for AB man hes gonna be good. Key and Glenn are neither speed WRs nor are they even close to young. I think its such a need we should trade up for Williams. We really dont need a LB. Untill next year when Singleton will be released. We just need a WR and a DE in the draft. We will sign a FS inless we get Broadney (spc) in the second. That means dont expect to our FS position to be answered untill the draft or after. The only real definite to be answered in the draft is a DE. James with #11, Pollack with #20 or Howard with the 2nd. One of those are guaranteed to happen. You heard it hear first.

i'd have to say it's a leadpipe cinch that dallas will draft a receiver.
i just don't think they spend a "day 1" pick on the position.
