I saw on First Take where some broncos fans created this term "Tebowing" (where you get on one knee and start praying no matter what everyone else is doing around you). I googled it and there is a website for it, its pretty funny.
The captions for each picture are pretty great too.

Tebow is going to be nominated for sainthood before his career is over. :) ;)
I'll confess. I'm rooting for Tebow because of his faith. And even if he were to stumble, I still would root for him. Having said that, I wish his supporters would allow him to develop as a football player. I think they are heaping too much on his shoulders.
He may be a very remarkable man spiritually, but he's not ***** and he's definitely not ***** in cleats (a phrase Michael Irvin used to describe the greatness of one Jerry Rice).

Careful folks.
As for Tim Tebow, I think his faith is great -- if more people in this country put forth the same passion in their faith, or in just general good will, regardless of faith, we'd be much better off.
That being said, he's a horrendous quarterback. That's why I root against him.

How is he an underdog? He was a Heisman trophy winner as a sophomore and first round pick.

Heisman counts for very little in terms of projecting a player to the NFL.
And nearly everyone on this board says that a 1st round pick spent on him was completely ridiculous.
I wouldn't call him the classic "underdog" in the sense that he has been completely written off but it'd be disingenuous to say that the deck isn't slightly stacked against him in terms of how people think he'll pan out.

I cheer for him because, as a general rule, I want people to succeed in what they do.
Obviously, there are rare circumstances in which people, such as mass murderers and Keynesian economists, shouldn't be successful.

He is the opposite of an underdog, he gets opportunities others of his skill level wouldn't merely because he has a huge fan base for reasons that go beyond how he plays football.

I was trying to get one of my staff to pull this off tonight since we were a little slow early on in the night's business. No takers, but my ace in the hole comes in tomorrow night. 6'2", 230 or so with Napoleon Dynamite's hair. And somehow his wife is ridiculously hot.
If not him, I've got my 6'3" 240 Muslim bartender working all night. "Muslim Fine Dining Tebowing".
It just feels right.

Because of the rules of this board I can't explain in detail why I wish failure for him, but lets just say the mere fact he is a devout Christian is not the reason. If that was the case I would have to wish failure for 75% percent of the league.

You don't know what an underdog is.
Receiving an opportunity has nothing to do with how people think you'll do.
Here's a hint. Every underdog gets an opportunity others of similar skill set do not. That's why they are the underdog.

Just a guess, i'd say it's hype. He's already being measured for his canton bust in some circles.
I'm personally sick of hearing about how great he is, i have eyes and he's clearly not. When he sucks his way out of the league in a few years we're all going to have to listen to the excuses "he was never given a fair shot, it's a conspiracy bla bla bla"

tebow's a great human being
no question
but his fans are often guilty of idolatry where it concerns him
he's a very bad qb in terms of accuracy, who really only ever shows up in the 4th qtr
he'd be perfect for a new classification , the relief qb, a guy who you bring in late in games who excels in a 2 minute drill when the D is playing prevent.

I don't understand the obsessive hatred for Tebow. He is one of the greatest college QB's of all time but, like many many other great college QB's, just doesn't have the skills needed at the pro level which, unlike basketball, is an entirely different game.
The skills needed to excel in college at the QB position are just not the same as at the pro level. Tebow is hardly the first hyped Heisman winning QB not to make it in the NFL. Over the past 20 years or so it has been won by the likes of Andrew Ware, Ty Detmer, Gino Torretta, Chris Weinke, Eric Crouch, Jason White and Troy Smith.
Arguably since 1989 the Heisman Trophy winning QB who had the most success in the NFL is Carson Palmer. That alone speaks volumes.

Ya'll defending him because of his religion are only doing so because he's a Christian. If he came out and said "I'm Islamic" it'd be a WHOLE different song and dance. It's cool to shove Christianity down people's throats, but any other religion just isn't tolerable? That's how most of you act. Religion and Insurance are the TWO BIGGEST SCAMS on Earth.

First, so what if we're defending him because he's a Christian. Last time I checked, people are allowed to have personal preferences and decide what they choose to like and what they choose not to like.
Second, a Muslim would have just as much of a right to honor his religion as Tebow his.
Third, if not for religion, you likely wouldn't be a citizen of this great land. Religion has done just as much to preserve and promote civilization and humanity as it is, what you call, a scam. But we can't go there so I'll stop right here.
