Anything more than that and i'll be surprised. I doubt he contributes much. But hell, everyone who i think is going to have a great year ends up sucking...so he will probably finish the year as starting FS with 5-10 picks.

If Dantzler has put on a few pounds without loosing quickness and could learn to tuck his shoulder instead of just dancing he could be a backup and change up/3rd down back. He's that fast, agile and quick. He ran around and Barry Sanders people in college. Have no idea if he can play there except very occasionally. Bill likes tricks and Dantzler is the perfect slash.

I think they would like him to contribute at safety but again Woody never has played this much.

So we'll see. Incredible athlete looking for a position.

At least he should make ST over Randall Williams unless something very different happens with Williams.

Woody's not eligible for the practice squad, so he won't be there. And there will likely only be room for him at safety if the Cowboys don't draft one. But he could force their hands there if he shows the ability to tackle consistently. He is extremely dangerous as a return man, as we all know, and I think he could be a very dangerous Dave Meggett-type player under Parcells tutelage. He may be a guy that forces Parcells to keep a spot open on the roster for a special teams player, regardless of his position...

Woody has about a 2% chance to make the team.
He has had ample chances to play soemwhere but is really without an NFL position.

I'll be shocked if he makes the team then. Not having a true position simply hurts his chances. There are guys who can contribute elsewhere that can return punts and kicks. I like him but he's a man without a position. I was wishing we'd try him at RB but it never seemed to materialize.

Put him at quarterback, draft Carnell Williams and run the wishbone.

Well, I think its a waste to even try him at S...

He should focus on ST's and have a few plays designed for him with the ball in his hands on offense...(RB-WR & Emergency QB)

I agree. If Parcells truly wanted him on the team and wanted to give him opportunities to make plays, then he should do it as a running back. He could also work him in as a holder. I don't think he will make the team unless Parcells wants the luxury of having a return man without another position. Most guys have to do a little more than returning punts and kicks.

Dantlzer only chance to make the roster will be as a special teams player, having said that I think the odds are totally stacked aginst of making the team.

If he bulked up a little bit, why not try him at rb? He could give jj a spell for maybe a series. He probably wouldn't work as a 3rd down back. But, JJ showed enough to make me think we don't need a 3rd down rb...

I think the AFL or the CFL. There comes a time when a person has to identify with a position and stick. Dantzler has been given multiple opportunities to excel at a position and he's yet to do it. I think he's camp fodder and will be cut regardless of his return abilities. At this point in his career, I think he's got to play more than just ST.

I don't know how many of you have seen this kid play but he is one of the most gifted athletes I've seen in a long time.

I think he could be used easily as a 3rd down back if he can catch the ball well enough which I understand he does reasonably well.

The problems will be is he good enough to displace a RB from the roster just to keep a possible safety, ST whiz, and slash player/3rd down back. If he can earn a spot as a ST player and fullfill all those other roles until and IF he finds a permanent place to play in the NFL then he'll stick.

Maybe he should bulk up...a lot...Then see if he could make a run at FB...We have no clear winner at that position right now.

I always thought he had a future as a 3rd down back, catching passes out of the backfield. But apparently BP thinks that he has the best chance at free safety.

Dunno why it matters...Patrick Crayton fits into the mold of Woody Dantzler, but he is also finding a niche as a prospective WR. I wanted Dantzler to do well, but Crayton is a BETTER slash player...he will excel.

The best bet for Dantzler is to go to safety full time and stop trying to switch positions. Even if he continues to get cut, it's really the best position for him and his only real chance of making an NFL team.

I'm assuming we'll draft a FS in either round 2 or round 4.

If so, the competition should look like this:

Lynn Scott
Dantzler
Steve Cargile
Keith Davis
Rookie X

Thus, we would have 5 guys competing for 3 spots. Not sure if Dantzler can still be on the practice squad. Cargile can and of course the rookie would be able to put on the practice squad, however that rarely happens to a 4th round pick.

I am sure there is always an open spot on the Desperados. ;)

I guess it depends on two things....do we get the FA or drafted FS?.....and how does Bickerstaff/lee look.....because in all honesty the only way woody gets on as a RB for this team is at the third RB spot IMO or FS depth...and I am not sure that his ST play would warrent keeping him on the team.

Sad to say but the kid is just a great athlete....a jack of all trades but so far not even a journeymen (not master) of none.

I think in one season Patrick Crayton has shown more...but that is just me.

I agree and I'm excited about Crayton, for a guy changing position he showed quite a bit in a very short time. I look forward to seeing Crayton this coming season with another training camp under his belt.
