Which of the poll choices reflects your preferred solution to our much needed pass rushing DE?
In parentheses I was estimating the cost of each option.

preferred solution is to get a DE who can put the pressure on the QB which is why I still hope Dallas is able to work a deal with the saints for Howard. I would even be willing to add another pass rusher through the draft but none the less I would still pursue Howard because he comes with fewer question marks than any of the rookies

I'm a bigger fan of the 3-4 because the blitz schemes used confuse the QB a bit more. So, I'd like to see them get a pass rushing OLB which there are quite a few of them in this year's draft.
Optimally, I'd love to see them be able to switch a 3-4 and 4-3 defenses, but that may be extremely difficult to do.

Wait til draft day and if we don't get Merriman, James or Spears, work the trade with Saints for Howard

I really don't understand this faciniation with Merriman.
I watched all of his games and he is a good player, but he showed nothing in college that would lead you to believe he is a difference maker.
Then you have a guy like Pollack who tore it up in college, just made play after play in big situations.
Merriman is a good player who has some great combine measurables and all of a sudden he rates a lot higher then a guy who had a unbelievable college carrer.
Pollack will be the next Suggs, in my opionion. Maybe not in exact production. But he will be a guy a lot of people will have a shot at who will later wish they took him in the mid to later first round.
No way Merriman will deserve top 10 pick, based on what I believe his production will be on the field. He did nothing in College that warants a top ten pick. Trying to guess someones future upside when it was not shown in college is a dicey business.

i think we could trade down from #20 and land justin tuck in the #26-32 range. but i also like marcus spears at #11. spears won't be the edge rusher tuck will be - but he can play all over the line and in either 4-3 or 3-4. and "the big guy" is gonna be a player.
