Cowboys not giving up on Alamodome
Owner seems to want Cowboys to train in S.A. again.
By Tom Orsborn,
Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones hinted Friday that the team could split training camp between San Antonio and Oxnard, Calif., possibly as soon as 2013.
The Cowboys and Oxnard are expected to finalize a three-year deal next week that calls for the team to hold all of the 2012 camp on the West Coast, but Jones suggested San Antonio will be in the mix for a portion of the practices in 2013 and beyond.
“We certainly know what we have in San Antonio,” Jones told Dallas' KRLD-FM. “San Antonio has exactly the same percentage of Cowboys fans as we do in downtown — 97 percent. So, when we take our team down there, we're saying a lot of things. We're wanting the country to see how much we value our Hispanic fans. (Training in) San Antonio says that, plus it's a great place to train in the Alamodome down there.
“So both of them (Oxnard and San Antonio) are good. A long-winded answer, but we're going to be doing both to some degree.”....

can we please just hold training camp at one place jerry:mad:
shouldn't training camp location and schedule be the coaches job? Shouldn't garrett be the one answering these questions?
Do jerry really care about winning or do he just want to sell tickets.:bang2:

jerruh being jerruh. Sometimes the obvious (like a O line that sucks for years) really are not obvious to him.
One camp with minimal interruptions or distractions in a nice climate on Natural grass that does not put as much wear and tear on the bodies.
VS a circus on Turf in a blistering climate.

The Alamodome is climate controlled, so the blistering climate isn't something to worry about.
And look at our recent history. Since Parcells, our most successful seasons have been when we had camp in San Antonio, save for last year under Wade and the split camps.

There was a reason Landry loved Oxnard.

You completely disregarded any of the thoughts I presented.
Landry's camps were in Thousand Oaks, not Oxnard.

should have said Oxnard LIKE.
You completely ignore the other issues like natural grass and fewer distractions.
Where to held camps could be a joint responsibility between Jerry and JG.
I am not getting a sense of how much control JG has on this team and how much Jerry is involving in stuff he should not be. I am worried that JG will had enough of Jerry and will leave like Jimmy in a few years. Hopefully Stephen will take over before that happens

Apparently someone never was in the seats watching. As crowd support and response during practices, stimulated play on the field....not distracted. And the effectiveness of practices is the key, not fan convenience around any of it.
As to natural grass, I guess you weren't there also, for footings slipping and more ankle sprains and muscle pulls on up the leg. As there is more slide to cleats there. This because grass lengths have to be longer, due to daily watering and compression demands on the surface. But who's paying attention?

Oh, for sure, there's a change of duty stations in the NFL of every eighteen months. Just like clockwork...
And after being given the keys to the car, Jimmy wanted multiple cars and turned into a turncoat of the Cowboy franchise. Jerry had to enforce standards...but who keeps score on ethics?

There also was a reason for six losing seasons ending the reign of Landry in Dallas as well. Those facts don't carry the day...as Landry practiced more than a single season in Texas and in full heat as well. Care to compare records with place of practice?

I tend to believe it is both their fault (Jerry and Jimmy). I can argue that Jimmy wanted multiple cars after dealing with Jerry from 5 years. That is my point, after X numbers of years, will JG will be in that same state too?
