IRVING -- The Cowboys had to use several defensive backs or hybrid linebackers, such as safety Barry Church, in nickel and dime packages to cover the Bills' three- and four-wide receiver sets.

The result:

* Inside linebacker Bradie James, a team captain, was on the field for one play.

* Defensive end Marcus Spears said he was in for only 19 plays, compared to a usual 30 to 40.

* Undrafted rookie Alex Albright played some at defensive end, some at middle linebacker and some at his normal position of outside linebacker. He said it was about even for each spot.

Well it worked obviously. Against a woeful Redskins offense James should get his usual number of snaps.

Thing is Dallas jumped out to a big lead early putting the Bills is a must pass situation. It is a lot easier when you know what the other team has to do.
