I am so going to be rooting for the Eagles, so I hope like a mad monkey that Vince Young is at QB instead of Mike Vick.
Now, before anyone tells me they can't root for the Eagles no matter what, I understand. I hate them more than I hate Kickers, and you know how much I hate Kickers. But I always want what is best for Dallas, and right now, that is a Giants loss.
Yeah, I know their schedule becomes killer tough after this game. I know we face them twice and we can still be ahead of them without help from the Eagles. I do not care. Take every advantage now and later I say.
Was just reading a while ago that the Giants are probably going to be minus Michael Boley and Ahmad Bradshaw. If you could only see me dancing. I have rhythm for an old dude with bad knees.
If the Eagles show a little pride and we take care of business against the Washing Some Headskins, there better be nothing but jubilation across Cowboys nation.
For 24 hours anyway. A tough one against the Dolphins will be coming fast.
No Leon!!!

If the Eagles are half as motivated against the Giants as they are against us, they just might pull an upset.
I have my doubts though. They seem content to beat the Cowboys and nothing else matters.

Because Vick is a beaten down, broken shell of a QB. Vince Young might inject some life into that pathetic bunch. Maybe. I still think Vince Young could be a terrific QB in this league, provided he takes it seriously.

I am so going to be rooting for the EaglesMe too. Usually I don't dare to root for the Eagles, ever - they've come back from "dead" too many times for that. But I'm making an exception, just this once. The Giants have a tough schedule, but the chances are higher that they'll eke out enough wins to stay ahead of us than that the Eagles will come back from 3-6. Go Eagles.

Some of his passes might look like prayers because he is throwing off his back foot and shying away from contact. But an inordinate amount of those "prayers" seem to be pretty damn accurate passes. I liken it more to Dirk Nowitzki's one-footed, off-balance shots. Yes, it doesn't look pretty when Eli is throwing those balls, but the results are pretty good. Sorry, these Giants are better than you're giving them credit for.

You said that in 2008, when they were 5-5-1, you might even have said that in 2006 when they were 5-6 and we know they made runs. I dont get the same " feel ", yet I will not count them out unless they lose 8 games.

I feel if they ever get to .500, they will run the table. That's why that Bears win was so huge because they would have been 4-4. Now they have another opportunity to fall further below .500 so they can be out of the playoff picture. i don't want a Andy reid team sniffing .500 in December

Exactly, The faster they are out the better
But even if they did, it wouldn't quite set up the worst case scenario.
This isn't likley, but it's plausible:
We win our next 6 games including the Eagle and Giant games.
We are 11-4.
The Giants win 5 of their next 6 games.
The Giants are 11-4.
The Bears and Lions are both 11-4 heading into week 17!
Now even after winning 8 straight games, we still have to win on the road in NY just to make the playoffs.
How'd you like to miss the playoffs at 11-5?
Now they're a number of different combinations that could play out where we have to win in NY to make the playoffs. I don't want to see any of them come to pass. Anything that makes that less likely to happen, is good for me.

This is all true but here's how I see it......
If we can't beat them at home, if we lose to them and lose a tiebreaker with them at 10-6 for the division, than so be it. We don't deserve the NFC East and wouldn't have a prayer in the playoffs anyway.
I can live with a must win scenario against them in Dallas. If we can't rise to that challange at HOME, than what's the point.
I just don't want to see a must win on the road in week 17 scenario to play out.

You have a short memory. Eli's been the NFL's interception king twice, and it's not by coincidence. Many of those "prayers" are, in reality, prayers.
When he chucks it up into coverage and his guy comes down with it or a PI flag goes against the DB, sorry, but those passes are usually not "pretty damn accurate". They are thrown in the general vicinity of his receiver and either his receiver makes a great play on the ball, OR the DB makes a horrendous play on the ball and commits a penalty. It's that simple... and he does that several times/game, every game.
I think it's a calculated risk on his part. By no means do I think he's a stupid player. Sometimes he gets away with them, sometimes he doesn't. But to classify those passes as "prayers" is not unfair in the least.

I get why you are Hos, and bless you for it, but I'm not gonna.
I'm going to put my chips on the Packers and Saints beating them the next two weeks and then on us taking care of business against them as well and that will more than take care of it for us.
I prefer to give Philly absolutely zero glimmer of hope and light by getting a W over the Giants.

I just like the idea that a Giants loss puts them 6-4 tied with Dallas and with a 1-2 mark in the division and a 3-4 mark in the conference
Dallas win give us 6-4 and a 2-1 for the division and a 5-2 conference record.

I'm 99% certain the 7th loss is all that's needed. The NFC east winner will have 10 or more wins as will the #6 wild card team.
As I've said, I'm hopeful for a week 16 matchup with them having been eliminated the week prior.
Historically speaking, teams do very poorly the week after they get eliminated from the playoffs. It's just human nature and it's hard as hell to fight.
Players come in on Monday and it's a different feel than what they've had all season. Very difficult to prepare and get up for that next game.

You have a short memory. Eli's been the NFL's interception king twice, and it's not by coincidence. Many of those "prayers" are, in reality, prayers.
Hey, you don't like Eli, I get it. But the guy has shown the ability to bring his team back and no, he is not casting some mystical spell over refs and defenders alike. Many of those so-called prayers and ducks are well placed balls, even if he doesn't look pretty when throwing them. He has the seventh highest QBR rating this year and his team currently holds the division lead, despite the team's laundry list of injuries.
So if you want to paint him as this incompetent QB who throws up duck after duck, that's fine. But the numbers and his team's record don't support that, nor do my eyes when I watch him play. He's a damn good quarterback and while I despise the Giants more than anyone, I'll give credit where it's due.

I'm surprised people are taking the view that they can't support the Eagles on Sunday as a matter of principle. Aren't the Giants deserving of a great deal of hate themselves? a win not only hurts the giants, it hurts the Eagles draft position.
seems like a no-brainer to me.
This is my theory as well. I root for the Redskins, Giants, and Eagles to all end up 7-9 each year while the Cowboys end up at least 10-6. That way, the other 3 teams miss the playoffs but also don't get themselves in position to get a top player in the draft.

You thinks so? I see them perhaps placing eight men in the box and daring Vince Young to beat them. I see Tom Coughlin unleashing that defensive line on Vince Young forcing him to get rid of the ball, which will in turn lead to turnovers. I see a lot of sacks in this game too.
I could be wrong though, but I envision Vince Young doing a lot of running for his life.

I still don't know if I agree with this. The Eagles have lost quite a few conference games to teams that are also fighting for a playoff spot. If the Eagles happen to finish at 9-7, and if teams like the Bears and Falcons also finish with a 9-7 record, then the Eagles would lose the tiebreaker to both teams because the Eagles lost to both teams. If they lose to the Giants again, and both teams have the same record at the end of the regular season, then the Giants would take precedence over them. The Eagles have placed themselves in a situation in which winning the division is likely the only way they will make the playoffs. They have lost too many games, and I think one more loss would be a knockout blow. At worst, I think the Giants, Bears, and Falcons will all finish 9-7.

The Eagles are not done by any means. They have four moderately difficult games left on their schedule, but it's not as difficult as the Giants' schedule. It's conceivable that they could win the division at 9-7 if they win the rest of their division games and beat the Seahawks, Dolphins, and one of the Jets or Patriots.
In that scenario, it's easy to get the Giants to 9-7: a split with Dallas, the loss to the Eagles mentioned above, and losses to NO and GB. Dallas could also easily be projected to 9-7 as we'd only need a loss to one of Miami, Arizona, Tampa Bay, or the Skins in addition to the split with the Giants and the loss to the Eagles.
I don't think that scenario is a highly likely scenario, but it's a little too early to say that they are done.

I agree the eagles aren't done because they only have 6 loses.
IF they won out, I'd like their chances to win the east at 10-6. Don't like to Giants to finish better than 9-7 if they lose Sunday night and the Eagles would have sweept the Cowboys, who I still see finishing 10-6 with a loss the the eagles.
I have too much confidence in the Cowboys to finishing with at least 10 wins, to agree the eagles have a legit chance to win the east at 9-7.
I don't believe the Cowboys lose to Wash, Miami, Arizona or TB. I don't believe they won't win at least 1 of the 3 games against the Eagles and Giants.
I'm confident the Cowboys will be 8-4 going into the Giants game. I believe they will clinch the NFC east with a win in TB or more likely a win at home the next week against the eagles.
I also believe there's an excellent chance that the eagles and giants are eliminated from the playoffs in weeks 15 and 16. That sets up very favorable matchups with them in weeks 16 and 17.
Historically speaking, its always been very difficult for a team to stay motivated and play well the next week after its eliminated from the playoffs. Home or away, division rivalries all go out the window and that team usually plays it's worst game of the season.

OMT I was just looking at the 4-5 Bucs upcoming schedule. I think there's an excellent chance they are eliminated week 13 in Jacksonville before our week 14 matchup.
When I checked out the Cowboys remaining schedule back in week 6, TB was one of those games I felt would look and actually be much easier when it was played than it did in week 6.
Now it looks like we may hit the playoff elimination trifecta to end the season.

Cowboys fans always talk about other teams envying their position, I must say, they are right.
I would love to watch a football game, where the referees always had our back.
I know Cowboys fans have experienced bad games with the referees - ie 5 yard holding calls etc... but it's nothing like what fans of other teams have to deal with - ie game changing calls; especially when playing "americas teams".
I'm actually suprised te skins ar still in it, with the calls they've made so far; I know Cowboys fans won't agree (obviously - nor would afan of of any other team), because tha'ts just how it is, when you're on the receiving end of a gift, you just accept it and defend it.

Because Vick is a beaten down, broken shell of a QB. Vince Young might inject some life into that pathetic bunch. Maybe. I still think Vince Young could be a terrific QB in this league, provided he takes it seriously.
Everybody is on Tebow right now, because "he just wins", even though his stats are putrid...
If Vince Young were also judged on win-loss record (30-17 as a starter), then he would deserve similar praise, plus he can throw and probably even run better than Tebow...
I don't know if Young is better than Vick right now, but I don't think there's much separating the two....

Jones shows every indication of being a bust IMO. He is rarely very good away from Norman, holds the ball way too long at times and even in an offense designed to put up great QB numbers he has many games with low completion %'s. To me, he's Ryan Leaf without the attitude problems.
I would almost hope they draft him if they want a QB, because guys like Luck, Griffin and even Barkley have more potential IMO.
