Cowboys coach draws a clear Romo-Rodgers comparison

IRVING — Gone are the protective vest and pain-killing injections. His nights again are spent sleeping in a bed, not a chair.

With his broken rib and punctured lung healed, Tony Romo is himself again. That was apparent last week against Washington when he slid around the pocket like a water moccasin in the Guadalupe.

For most right-handed quarterbacks, throwing on the move while rolling left is fraught with peril. But in Sunday's 27-24 overtime win over Washington, Romo made it look easy, hitting Jason Witten for a 59-yard touchdown in regulation and Dez Bryant for a 26-yard gain that set up the winning field goal.

Cowboys receivers coach Jimmy Robinson watched it all with a distinct sense of déjà vü. He was with Green Bay last season when Aaron Rodgers proved to be the best in the NFL at throwing on the run, leading the Packers to a title in the process.

“Tony certainly has a lot of the same qualities Aaron had (last season),” Robinson said Wednesday. “You can make a favorable comparison without a doubt...

They have very similar playing styles. Rodgers however has that super bowl which gives him the clear edge.
