Cowboys cheerleader knocked over by Witten forced off Twitter (http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/blog/shutdown_corner/post/Cowboys-cheerleader-knocked-over-by-Witten-force?urn=nfl-wp12519)
By Chris Chase (http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/blog/shutdown_corner?author=Chris+Chase)
Cheerleader Melissa Kellerman was barely into the middle part of her 15 minutes of fame when the Dallas Cowboys (http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/teams/dal/) pulled the plug.
Kellerman, a 22-year-old student in her fourth year with the team, became a national sensation on Thanksgiving (http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/blog/shutdown_corner/post/Video-Jason-Witten-tackles-a-Cowboys-cheerleade?urn=nfl-wp12497) when she was accidentally tackled on the sideline by Cowboys tight end Jason Witten (http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/players/6405/).
CNBC's Darren Rovell reported that Kellerman was forced to delete her Twitter account after posting two messages on Friday morning about the incident. Her Tweets were good-natured and innocuous.

Wow -- what an overreaction by the Cowboys! I hope Jerry feels the heat from all the negative press for this. If so, maybe he will force "Iron-Lady" Kelli to reverse course and let Kellerman have her Twitter account back.

Something here doesn't fit though. When I was brought on as a moderator over at DC.com I remember Derek specifically saying that Jerry told him that at no time during his employment with the Dallas Cowboys should he feign away from being critical of the organization in any regard. Censoring a cheerleader for those tweets seems out of character for how the organization is run from my very brief experience.

Wow...super over-reaction.
It SHOULD be a winning situation for the Cowboys, but now they just made themselves look stupid.

Yeah, pretty stupid.
I guess since he overlooked the Bills game, he had to do something on this one, lol

It's a stupid overreaction, but it very likely doesn't go all the way to the top. Surely, Jerry has something better to do than supervise cheerleader tweets.

I think this has more to do with that lady that runs the cheerleaders more than it has to do with Jerry and the front office. She always struck me as the type that doesn't want any individuals to stand out from the squad.
Who the **** cares what a cheerleader has to say anyway.

By "he" I'm assuming you mean Jerry Jones when there is no indication that he really had anything to do with it. I'm sure Jones has people in charge of public relations and the cheerleaders who take care of those things for him. It's probably "he" didn't even know about it.
I know people like to bash Jones, but must we always go there when we don't know who was ultimately responsible.
Since you put lol, you were possibly just making a joke, but I just get tired of people blaming the GM for everything. He's done enough wrong on his own to not need any extra credit.;)

Being given the ball by a boyfriend on the other team?
Being involved in a tackle of one of our players?
Next week, let's hope one does something negative to the other team for a change.
This is one of those stories where people need to step back and think about they're upset over. It's a cheerleader. I could give a ****.

I agree. I just hope Jerry sees the PR damage resulting from this and orders whoever made the decision to reverse it.

Could be but I doubt it.
Several Cowboy players have Twitter feeds and I'm not aware that the PR Department has made any of them shut down their Twitter accounts. No, I suspect this was a Kelli Finglass decision. She rules the DCC with an iron fist and this decision has the earmarks of the unforgiving nature of her rule over the girls.
I guess Kellerman should consider herself lucky she wasn't fired.

When they came for the ball boys, everyone said who cares. It's not me.
When they came for the trainers, everyone said who cares. It's not me.
When they came for the PA guy, everyone said who cares. It's not me.
When they came for the cheerleaders everyone said, who cares. It's not me.
When they came for me there was nobody left to say crap.

This. That woman came across as the worst sort of martinet. I think she'd keel over dead if she said a nice thing about anyone. Evil micro-managing control freaks are no fun to work with.
She also refers to the Cheerleaders as 'product' and 'brand'. Always suspicious of the business-speak types.

The Boys make serious money and lots of PR on the Cheerleaders while they get bupkus. So it is time that a certain little hitler got slapped down. She has been like that for more than 30 years and enough is enough. Telling her she can't even talk about this is total BS.

Eagleton's job was to be critical when he saw fit. Her job is to be a cheerleader.

I think Kellerman is the girl in the DCC Fathead if I'm not mistaken. Would make sense if Finglass wants to knock her down a peg or two lol

Anyone think that maybe Jason's wife didn't like it?

11-27-2011, 08:40 PM
I think this may be the case of a media guy guessing for the reason her twitter account was shut down rather than checking his facts. I seriously doubt even if they had a problem with what she twittered that they would make her shut it down and would have just asked her to delete the comments on Witten. Someone in the comments claimed that it had to do with all the attention she was getting on twitter and that she decided to shut it down.

Anyone think that maybe Jason's wife didn't like it?Naw, she's a really cool lady. I think it was the comment about not tough as people think he is. I think that was seen as an insult when really it was a harmless joke and a reassurance she was okay.
No matter which way you slice it, this is an over reaction by someone.

And Kelli Finglass's favorite current player is...Jason Witten. Image her watch Jason and Melissa fooling around in front of National TV and then learn Melissa twittering about Witten afterwards.

Probably right. Also add to the equation that:
a) all of America saw the game
b) She is hot
c) Probably started to get unwanted sexual and/or threatening messages from tens of thousands of stalker types
d) She is hot
e) She doesn't need/want that kind of attention
f) Probably reported it to someone on the staff who suggested that she delete the account

Per Dallas Morning News, the team did not force the cheerleader to cancel her account. Where do people get this stuff from?
