Report: At least two-game suspension expected for Suh (http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2011/11/27/report-at-least-two-game-suspension-expected-for-suh/)
Posted by Mike Florio on November 27, 2011, 10:47 AM EST
Other than Albert Haynesworth (http://www.rotoworld.com/player/nfl/2636/albert-haynesworth), Commissioner Roger Goodell has not suspended any player more than one game for on-field infractions (http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2011/11/27/multi-game-suspension-for-suh-may-not-happen/). According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Lions defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh (http://www.rotoworld.com/player/nfl/5593/ndamukong-suh) will be the second.
Per Schefter, a suspension of at least two games is “expected” for Suh.
Also expected, according to ESPN’s Chris Mortensen, is a referral of Suh to anger management classes.

Had he have ripped off the guy's helmet and stomped on his face it would've been a little more egregious.
I'm thinking they give him 2, maybe 4.

I think two games is justified.
And the league can do itself another favor and send a note to Suh's head coach. The guy who was also Haynesworth's coach when he did what he did.
The guy who screams obsenities at opposing players and gets into brawls after postgame handshakes.
That guy can use a warning too.

Suh still stomped on bare skin and could have caused serious damage. He is lucky his cleats did not tear open the arm of the Packer.

Actually during one of the games I was watching, they showed highlights of his actions against several opposing QBs. We all realize defensive players go after opposing QBs & that's expected. But IMHO Suh crosses over the line. He invariably (deliberately?) rips the QBs' helmets off during his tackling & variety of other things. It's a miracle one of these guys hasn't been severely injuried. The Commish must take a stand; 2-3 game suspension sounds fine with me including forfeiting his pay for suspended games.
Must admit I'm also very annoyed with Lions coaching staff. As some have pointed out, their HC was coaching team when Haynesworth stomped on Gurode.
BTW: Heard today that purpose of Suh previous meeting with Commish included Suh complaining about being fined $50,000 for sack/tackle.
Wonder when the word comes out about the official suspension.

2 games in my view is the right call. I would also add the league will be watching him close when he does return they will not give him much slack for his actions

I said he should get one game. Two games? I'm okay with that. But I think the suspension basically sinks the Lions' playoff chances. So this news is good for the Cowboys. :)

He deserves more than one just for the fact that he continues to commit unsportsmanlike like plays without regard.
I would suspend him an entire year if he commits another one this year.
He is only a second year player and has already been voted dirtiest player in the NFL.

I really have no problem with his physical tackling. I think the game has gone way overboard with trying to protect offensive players but he does deserve to be suspended for stomping on the guy IMO.
I think the punishment fits the crime.

I doubt if it hurts the Lions at all.
A) Suh's play hasn't been all that this year.
B) Suh can appeal which will allow him to play Sunday vs. the Saints and sit out the next two which are the Vikes and Raiders, I think.

Ndamukong Suh banned two games
NEW YORK -- The NFL suspended Detroit Lions (http://espn.go.com/nfl/team/_/name/det/detroit-lions) defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh (http://espn.go.com/nfl/player/_/id/13234/ndamukong-suh) for two games without pay for stomping an opponent in a Thanksgiving Day game.
The NFL said this was Suh's fifth violation of on-field rules in the last two seasons. He will not be permitted to practice with the Lions or take part in team activities during the suspension.
Suh stomped on the arm of Green Bay (http://espn.go.com/nfl/team/_/name/gb/green-bay-packers) guard Evan Dietrich-Smith (http://espn.go.com/nfl/player/_/id/12972/evan-dietrich-smith) in the third quarter of the Lions' 27-15 loss and was ejected for kicking.
Before stomping Dietrich-Smith, Suh pushed his head into the turf while Dietrich-Smith was on the ground.
Suh's suspension will cost him $164,000, or two game checks. He can appeal the suspension within three business days, and the NFL said an expedited appeal hearing would be held this week in advance of the Week 13 schedule.
If Suh's suspension stands, he will miss games against the New Orleans Saints (http://espn.go.com/nfl/team/_/name/no/new-orleans-saints) and Minnesota Vikings (http://espn.go.com/nfl/team/_/name/min/minnesota-vikings) and would be reinstated Dec. 12. The Lions (7-4) currently would miss the playoffs, losing tiebreakers with the Chicago Bears (http://espn.go.com/nfl/team/_/name/chi/chicago-bears) and Atlanta Falcons (http://espn.go.com/nfl/team/_/name/atl/atlanta-falcons), who both are also 7-4.
Suh called commissioner Roger Goodell on Sunday night to apologize for his behavior during Detroit's loss to Green Bay, a league source told ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter.

2 games is what I thought he'd get and what I feel is appropriate at this time for his bad behavior.
He now knows that he's going to be targeted more and any further crap is going to get him longer suspensions.

I would be completely embarrased if anyone on the Cowboys did something like what he did last Sunday. It would be one thing if this was the only incident but it looks like he sets out to try and scare every offense and QB he faces w/ his constant borderline helmet twists and personal fouls. They always look intentional and appears they usually are.
I agree w/ the other poster who said it would be nice if the league sent a message to the Lions front office w/ a fine for its coaching staff who I feel let all of these issues w/ Suh and other on the Lions slide.
You were the story of the NFL when the season started. What happened? Did losing making you idiot Lions into a bunch of crazy brats?
Appears so.
Now you can play w/o one lousy brat the next few Sundays.

What would a player have to do to get a 3-game suspension?
My thought is that he'd have to tear off an ear.

They had a debate on Suh, on ESPN first take. They kept mentioning how nice he seems off the field, and the debate was: Which Suh is the real one, and which is the fraud?
They pretty much sided with Suh puts on a nice guy front outside of the game, but he is a nasty player on the field and doesn't care about the penalties etc.
They said they don't think it's a front, that is just how he is.
I can't stand him, or the fact that people compare/compared him to Reggie White.

A 3 game adn even 4 game suspension lies somewhere between what Suh did and what Haynesworth did. No ears were lost in either of their cases.

These dummy sportcasters, if they were back in WWII, would also say the same about Hitler. "Oh, the Rhineland and Alsace-Lorraine and Poland and . . . that's just Hitler being Hitler!"
(OK, you who will get upset by the comparison: In a girl's voice: That is not a good comparison . . . " You are on the clock!):)
Next time Suh messes up they will say, "Oh, he is such a competitor, his motor is always going, etc. etc. blah, blah, blah . . . "

NFL spokesman Greg Aiello said Suh’s hearing will be with Art Shell, an appointed appeal officer who is paid by the league and NFLPA. As of late Tuesday afternoon, the hearing hadn’t been scheduled, but the league has said it will expedite the procedure to give Suh and Lions an answer before Sunday’s game at New Orleans.

When someone appeals a suspension of such an obvious rule breaking, (especially of this type) they should automatically double the suspension when he fails for being a stupid moron.

Goodell would want it to make sure the entire process has been followed. Then it could be used as a precedent for any future dealings with Suh or any other player. No one down the line could say, "well it wasn't appealed" to refute any future suspensions or sanctions.
