IRVING -- Cowboys punter Mat McBriar (http://espn.go.com/blog/dallas/cowboys/post/_/id/4687408/mat-mcbriar-is-pain-free-might-return-to-holder#comments) said he's finally pain free from nerve damage in his left (non-kicking) foot.

"The foot is what it is," McBriar said. "I'm not having any more pain. That's gone away so I can definitely start holding a lot more now. I don't think I'll be asked to hold [this week] but I definitely got some practice in at that [Monday] and the kicking is not upsetting it at all, which is great because that was a big concern initially."

Good news.

I'll admit I was a bit nervous when Romo held for the kick last week for obvious reasons.

I think he held vs. the Redskins also?

I actually like Tony being the holder. I believe he's put the infamous bobbled snap behind him. That was a long time ago. Almost 5 years. Romo is much better than he was then. Plus if we ever run a fake field goal Romo would be the one throwing it.

And I agree with your last point, but the next trick play Garrett runs will be his first. Seriously, have we ever run a trick play with him as HC? I can't remember one.

They have run a few reverses since he became head coach.

They have run a few reverses since he became head coach. Isn't that one just an end-around? Not what I'd generally think of as a trick play. Or at least way at the bottom of the scale. It sure was purty, though.

How about this one?

Uh, he's kind of dodging the question. Mickey reported that pain wasn't the initial issue, that McBriar couldn't feel the foot so he was having trouble planting and gauging feel. For him to say it is what it is but it's pain free leads me to believe he still has numbness but no pain, which does not mean he's 100%.

But, but, but, if he goes back to being the holder on FGs and PATs what in the world will people have to worry about?

Oh hell, silly question. Everything else.

Numbness or weakness? When he first had the problem he didn't appear to have strength in that leg and would lose his balance when punting.

Yes, it's an end-around.

How do they keep on and on about his holding duties but no questions about his performance as of late? The injury as clearly hurt his punting which is a far bigger story than Romo holding on fgs
