IRVING, Texas – The release of Akwasi Owusu-Ansah indicates that the Cowboys intend to make Dez Bryant the primary punt returner again.

It just might not happen this week.

That decision could come down to Miles Austin’s availability. Owner/general manager Jerry Jones said Tuesday on KRLD-FM that he expects Austin to play Sunday after missing the last three games, but Austin’s status for Sunday’s game in Arizona is uncertain after he missed Wednesday’s practice.

Bryant was one of the NFL’s most dynamic punt returners as a rookie with two touchdowns on 15 attempts, but he’s been used sparingly in that role this season. He suffered a deep thigh bruise on his first punt return of the season, prompting Jones to publicly question whether using Bryant in that role was worth the risk....
