IRVING, Texas -- November has been the kindest month to Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo, his security blanket in many ways.
Romo's 19-2 record in November gives him the best winning percentage of a quarterback in the Super Bowl era with a minimum of 15 starts in that month.
As good as those numbers are -- New England's Tom Brady is 29-10 in November for those keeping score -- they are also something of a curse because Romo's record in December and January games is 8-10.
Romo has called his November success a coincidence more than anything else, which is why he dismisses the 8-10 record in the same manner.

Yeah, I seem to remember hearing something like this before. Only not from a member of the media.
Pretty cool that he pulled in the won-loss records of the other NFCE starters, too. That's a nice bit of work, there.

I've been saying this for years.
The Cowboys should have done better, but the division games at the end of the schedule make it tough to really dominate that month.
FWIW (and has already been noted) the owboys have winning records the last 2 seasons after November.

I agree. We beat Miami. Cant expect him to also win the ones that matter. Its been quite a run already. He gots his! Lets coast. All the SB winners limp into the post season.

How in the world does what you just said constitute "agreeing" with anyone? I didn't see anyone even remotely suggesting anything like this.

Wish more people would recognize this. I'm not sure how many teams could have even a decent shot at the playoffs in 08 for instance with our record coming into that month.
Steelers on the road, Giants, Ravens, and Eagles? Good luck going 3-1 or better against that schedule with injuries to offensive starters.
It's not like 06, 07, 09, or 2010 were exactly cake either, even if they weren't as tough as 08 wound up being.

Agreed! And it didn't even mention the impact of our defensive play - which had a lot to do with several of those losses that are being attributed to Tony.

Yeah, didn't the Cowboys defensive give up two consecutive 80 plus runs to the Ravens in the last game at Texas Stadium?

That game in particular stands out to me b/c Tony kept leading the team back to take lead (in even somewhat heroic fashion) and the D would then give up these crazy-long TD runs.
There's no scenario where you could blame him for that loss yet somehow it would end up that "Tony lost another one in December".
