A 19-year-old man stepped forward with claims that Penn State assistant football coach Jerry Sandusky gave him whiskey and sexually abused him in 2004, the accuser's attorney said.

What a romantic. Few drinks, a log on the fire.......some pedophilia.

The man said Sandusky abused him during a single incident at the university's football building, according to attorney Chuck Schmidt of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.

I've forgotten the timeline. Was this after his supposed punishment and confiscation of his keys?

He was 12 at the time and the incident involved more than touching while he was staying overnight during Second Mile activities, the attorney said.
The Second Mile is a children's charity founded by Sandusky.

Schmidt said he plans to file a lawsuit against Penn State, the charity and Sandusky in the coming weeks.

"He thought he was the only person this had ever happened to and when he found out there were others, that gave him enough courage to come forward," Schmidt said.

The website says his preliminary hearing is Tuesday.

And did he really say he was attracted to young people in that creep-style interview?

If it was in 2004, then yes, it was after the witnessed-rape and the removal of keys.

The sad thing is when people like this start coming forward at this point and immediately talk about suing everyone it looks suspicious for the accusser. Maybe the kid is legitimate, and if he is I don't blame him for coming forward. Obviously Sandusky hasn't earned any benefit of the doubt, but I hope the promise of going after deep pockets doesn't start a feeding frenzy where a bunch of kids start coming forward with their hands out whether they were molested or not.

I wouldn't think that would happen. Confessing to sexual abuse, especially for men, is very, very humiliating, especially if they're heterosexuals.

It is very difficult for men who've emerged from prison to confess they were raped behind bars. You do what you do to survive, then you just don't talk about it.

To come forward to confess that another man basically abused you, is very difficult to confess. That's why I tend to believe accusers, unless, those individuals are homosexual*.

*I'm not making a general statement about homosexuality or homosexuals so please don't take it that way. I'm just saying the stigma associated with a boy/man being abused by another man is so humilating that it keeps men silent.

I think you are right for most people from a normal background, but I assume the Second Mile organization dealt with a lot of underpriviledged or neglected kids or kids that for any number of reasons may not have grown up in the greatest environment. I may be reaching too - who knows, but I certainly believe there are plenty of people in the world who are capable of taking advantage of a situation for the sake of a nice payday.

I think the stigma of being a victim keeps people silent no matter their background. For example, it sometimes keeps women silent, too. Crimes like this are tough to deal with for many people. I don't the the percentage of people that keep silent about it is much different across any spectrum of race, sexuality or gender.

I'm glad more people came foward, because him being a free man is what was sickening. The Judge that let him go, free of bail should be disbarred.

This is true, but the prospect of bilking someone out of money can also cause people to come out of the woodwork too.

I don't disagree that people are capable of taking advantage of a situation. But it's one thing to accuse someone of hitting you and another to accuse someone of essentially sexually assaulting you and you were powerless to prevent them, especially a man.

Having said that, I'll concede your point because people do try to take advantage of situations for the benjamins.

That's true. Although, I don't know whether the social dynamics are the same. I think what led women to remain silence is they perceived they wouldn't be heard/believed/protected in a male-dominated society and feared retaliation from their assailant. I suspect this might still be the case in certain pockets of society, but now women are more "empowered" to speak up about sexual abuse.

With men, there's still a stigma attached sexual abuse because men still view and define themselves by their physical and sexual prowess. Although, as our society continues to deconstruct the definition of "masculinity," and abandons the "He-man" definition attached to manhood, maybe more men will come forward about sexual abuse at the hands of other men.

Anyway, I'm not disagree with you. I'm just making observations without a particular study in mind.

I'm 100% serious in saying that I would support it if all the accusations are true.

If convicted on all possible charges, I'd support them walking him straight to the chamber and only because society looks down on dragging him out back and beating him to death.

I'm sorry, I misunderstood you. I thought you were stirring up the old argument about whether the NCAA should impose the "death penalty" on Penn State football. I'm with you on Sandusky.

That was me who posted that and I was talking about the real death penalty for Sandusky.

I hope they run out of new charges soon. Every time I hear about a new one I want to take my baseball bat to something.

Every time I see him he has that stupid smile on his face too. As if the charges didn't anger me enough.

I agree. I remembering reading about a sex ring or something where guys would go around to a college campus and lure young guys with the chance to make some easy money.

Gang rape them, and then leave.

They figured no college age guy is ever going to report to authority that something like that happened to them.

No victim, .. no crime.
