This really hurts the Mavs and makes the Knicks a legit contender IMO.

Finally, some defense. Go Knicks.

Definately came out of no where. If we get the Tyson Chandler that the Mavs had last year, we can contend in the East. If not, this has a lot of potential to back fire.
C- Tyson Chandler
PF- Amar'e Stoudamire
SF- Carmelo Anthony, Shawne Williams
SG- Iman Shumpert, Landry Fields
PG- Toney Douglas
We still need a PG, not an elite one, but a real one in order to beat the Heat (or an LA team with Kobe, Paul and Howard), but this team is much improved from last years.

What I heard was the signing of Chandler would co-inside with the trading of Amare to NO for CP3. Now that he has been traded to the Lakers. Not sure that is 98% anymore.

As a knicks fan I would've hated that. Amar'e signed with us when we were coming off nothing but lottery seasons. I was just happy to see us do well and getting Melo was just icing on the cake.
Everything I heard is to the contrary though. The Knicks caught wind of the CP3 deal and quickly moved on to plan B, Tyson Chandler. An Amar'e for CP3 deal was discussed (I think just among the Knicks) but never really left the ground.
The obstacle will be finding a taker for Chauncey, Turiaf, Balkman or who ever they need to, to create room for Chandler. Dallas is saying they don't want Billups in a sign and trade, but if we could deal Billups to a team like Sacremento for a 2nd, they should clear enough room to sign Chandler to the 4 year $58 million being discussed.

He's on with Ben and Skin right now saying it's basically a done deal. He hasn't put pen to paper yet, but he's a Knick.

Wow how about the Knicks front court now. Melo, Amare, and Tyson. That's the best front court in the NBA hands down.

arguably the worst back court though
Douglas, Fields and Shumpert.
Maybe we pick up a PG that gets cut

What's Douglas's issue? I don't get to watch the Knicks often since I relocated to the West Coast but he seems like he can score and defend. Is he just not good at facilitating?

He can't defend a lick. He's a good scorer, but that's about it.

I thought he was known for his defensive intensity when he first came to the team. Damn, I guess I've lost touch, which was easy to do in the years before Walsh came to the organization.

I guess now the Chandler to the Knicks will be a sign and trade, so Dallas will recieve a TPE.

Not sure how this will work out. We still have to waive Chauncey for the cap room. If we could keep Turiaf, this would be great. If not, I don't see the reason to hand Dallas a TPE.

I think this is an exaggeration. There aren't many guards who will look great defensively with no one protecting the rim.

Great for Billups - he gets to go back to Denver.
If I'm the Lakers, though, I'm calling him immediately upon his release from the Knicks.
EDIT: Looks like he's considering retirement.
