View Full Version : Lakers, Rockets, Hornets Talking 3 Team Trade

After things seemed to cool of on Wednesday, the Chris Paul trade rumors have heated up fast and furious on Thursday.
That includes a three-way deal where Paul ends up with the Los Angeles Lakers, who give up Pau Gasol. Then there is both Boston and New York working hard to find multi-team deals that would let them land CP3.
The three-team rumor comes via Sam Amick of Sports Illustrated although it now has been confirmed by multiple sources. The details are not yet clear, but Chris Paul would land with the Lakers, Pau Gasol would end up with the Rockets (who are looking for a big man) and the Hornets would get a collection of picks and players to help start their rebuilding process. There are a lot of details we don’t know — like do the Hornets dump Emeka Okafor and who gets him — and much has to be worked out on that one.

Dear God please let this happen. This would give the Lakers a legit shot at getting the big 3. Bynum would still be a Laker and he could be traded to Orlando for Dwight.

The Knicks are rumored to want to send Amare Stoudemire to the Hornets for Chris Paul once they complete the Tyson Chandler signing. Releasing Billups to get the Chandler signing feasable.

I don't see how that helps them. They get an elite player in CP3, but lose an elite player in Amare.

Id trade Carmello for CP3 and keep Amare.

I would to. You need a post player to win. You don't need 2 elite perimeter players just 1. Melo and Amare don't fit well at all.

Boston is talking about moving Rhondo, Green and two first round picks for CP3. The problem is that Paul has said that he will not extend if traded to Boston. Boston may not care. They may sign him for this year to try and win one more before it all goes away in 2012-13 season.

I picked up some nice Mavs/Celtic tickets yesterday in case this goes down.

The Hornets aren't gonna trade Chris to a team he doesn't wanna play for.

Chalmers was at the Heats practices this week and Battier says he's headed for the Heat this season. Heat could be a lot stronger this year.

Ok, I must be missing something. We know they're going to be very strong, but how could they be a lot stronger than last year? Unless you mean that one more year of the big three playing together will help (which it should)?
Chalmers was already there and Shane is a role player...so what am I missing?

They get one of if not the best point guard in the league. They also get a better defensive center than they have in Amare. CP3 covers any scoring lost going from Amare to Chandler.
The easily get better with that trade.

Yeah, I hate Carmello. He is a ***** bag, though this trade makes sense as both Chandler and Amare play center. Besides, I don't think the Hornets want Carmello for CP3. That would be a bad trade,
With Chandler at center you don't need Amare.

Why? You think the Hornets are worried about what CP3 thinks about who they trade him too? :laugh2:
The Hornets want the most value they can get. That's it. They don't get a damn what CP3 thinks about any trade they make.

Yeah, but they have Pittman who is still really young. If he develops, they have a decent squad.

Amare can play the 4. Chandler and Amare with CP3? I think they could take the east with that.
That is one injury prone team though.

Chalmers and Battier are depth that I did not expect them to have. The Heats weakness is that they only have three guys to cover all those minutes. They are starting to add decent depth. That's going to help them IMO.

:laugh2: Are you in the Hornets FO? No you're not you don't know what's going through their head. Chris Paul is the best player in their franchises' history he's been nothing but classy to the orginization they're not gonna trade him to a team who doesn't wanna play for.
Also :laugh2: at you saying they don't need Amare. Chandler is a decent player, but he can't score on the low post like Amare can. Without Amare they become primarily a jump shooting team. Jump shooting teams don't win titles.

I'm not, but I do know the Hornets have all respect in the world for CP3 and there not gonna send him to the Celtics or any team he doesn't wanna go to.

I hear you, but they already had Chalmers...so they did not add anything there.
I agree that Battier's unslelfish play will blend well off the bench. He will addd a little glue to that group, even in his advanced years.

Yeah but the talk out of Chalmers camp at the end of last year was that he was gone. I saw them having to replace a shooter/defensive player/ball handler. Now, it looks like he may be coming back.

I was appalled with what they offered just to pick up Gasol. We need a change but I am glad the deal did not go through.

No kidding! I was already disgusted with the McHale hire.
This trade was insane.
