Odom was traded for unspecified draft choices so that Lakers can go after Howard with more assets.

mmmm bop. LOL. No, really I dont think shes that bad. She actually can think for herself and her personality is more real.
So, if a Kardashian had to invade Dallas, I much rather it be KHOLE. But of course, the whole family will probably frequent here. Hopefully, Miles Austin stays away from the newly single KIM. ;)

and?
cuban's whole issue was not letting L.A. get cp3 AND howard.
by allowing howard to go to L.A., he essentially makes deron williams decision very easy next year. if Howard went to the Nets, i think d-will resigns with them. not anymore.
mark cuban is playing chess with the lakers.

Dallas appears to be going for veteran depth again. That worked really well last year. This is what the lineup looks like from what I understand:
Kidd/Roddy/DoJo
JET/Rudy/Carter
Marion/Brewer/Odom
Dirk/Wright/Cardinal
Haywood/Mahinmi
That's not bad.

I agree, Cuban REALLY wants to pair Williams and Dirk for a few years while Dirk still has it.

I think Dalembert from Sac is still on our radar. Haywood is a serviceable backup, but Dalembert would provide similar numbers that Chandler had in '10-'11:
Chandler: 74 games; 27:48 min/game; 10.1 pts; 9.4 rebs; 1.1 blks
Dalembert: 80 games; 24:11 min/game; 8.1 pts; 8.2 rebs; 1.5 blks
So, the starting 5 would be:
Kidd
Rudy
Dirk
Marion
Dalembert
Off the bench:
Two Sixth Man award winners in JET and Odom
Vinsanity
Haywood
Brewer
I really like the depth we could potentially have.

Lakers aren't losing Pau. I know Orlando is asking for them, but L.A. isn't giving up both they're not stupid. I see a trade like this.
Mavs TPE
Vujacic TPE
Bynum
Ebanks
Caracter
For
Howard
Turkoglu
Then I see the Lakers still trying to make a trade for CP3. Stern wants some draft picks. Lakers can trade Gasol and throw in some 1st rounders. Maybe they try another 3 team trade. Idk I still see us getting Paul if we can keep Gasol from Orlando.

they could if LA convinced ORL to take Luke Walton's $5.6 million dollar deal with 2 seasons left. That would be a decent tradeoff for Hedo's contract, especially if Walton retires for medical reasons.

Anyway, it hard to predcit ANY team will repeat. But I would say Dallas at least has a fighting chance. Like last year, they are maybe 1 of 7-8 teams capable of winning it.

Looking at the way this roster is shaping up, people are overlooking how deep and versatile this mavs team will be going into a condensed, lockout shortened season.
I would love to have another piece added at C, but if Haywood is motivated then he can be really good, Mahinimi can also be serviceable at C.
Kidd/Roddy/Jones
Carter/Terry/Fernandez
Marion/Odom/Brewer
Dirk/Odom/Cardinal/Wright
Haywood/Mahinimi/Odom
I think that's more than enough to get back to the finals this year, people are hyping the Thunder up way too much.

Now after the trade fell through, then Cuban offered an explanation why. But not beforehand.

Please.. he didn't want the deal to happen. If you don't think he expressed his opinion to the other owners and the league before Stern made his decision you're crazy.
He didn't want the deal to happen because he doesn't want LA to take the title from them. Fair enough, but still a pathetic move.
He claims its because he wants small market teams to be able to keep their stars. Bull. Now that they didn't make this trade, they are not only going to lose their star, but get nothing in return for him either when he walks.

So....what you are saying is all speculation. And based on your speculation as being fact, he was whiner. You had his phone tapped or something, I suppose.
I thought the deal should have gone through. If someone didn't want it to go through, that's fine. They have a total right to not want something to happen.
But saying that Cuban, in particular, tried to undermine the process is purely speculation.

He came out and stated that he was against it. Its a league owned team.
Do the math.
BTW, you saying he didn't whine about it and make his opinion known to the league and to other owners before the trade was nixed is speculation as well. Im just being realistic. He didn't want it to go down because he feared the competition it would bring his team. Bottom line. Its not about small market teams at all, because even John John in his beanbag chair eating cheetos knows that by not being allowed to trade CP3 and get some talent in return, its hurting that team more than helping because he'll just walk when his contract is up anyway and then they'll get nothing for losing him.

Well the 1 thing that would worry me about Lamar is he's pretty damaged physiologically. He's been through some tough **** in his career. Losing his son obviously was the toughest and he wasn't treated fairly at all by the team he helped win 2 titles. He was crushed by the trade he was crying on a radio show. I feel bad for him. He's a really good player though when his mind is right. I'm just glad we didn't trade him to some rebuilding team at least he has a legit shot at winning ring #3.

He's not a bad center. Good defender/rebounder and a decent finisher around the rim. That's all the Mavs need. You guys seriously overrate Chandler. He's nothing without a good point guard. He's simply a product of playing with good point guards like CP3 and Kidd. He's struggled when playing with an average point guard. I don't see him making much of an impact in New York. By the time this season is over whether Dallas repeats or not all y'all will be saying Thank Gkd we didn't overpay for Chandler.

That wasn't really the point.. although yes, its a league owned team so i think the league owners have a say for sure in how the league manages that team.
The point was Cuban whined that the LA trade was unfair, yet this one seems perfectly fair to him?
I get that he's trying to do what's best for his team at any means necessary, but this is a pathetic look for him.
It would have been best for that franchise if that deal had gone through. Now they're going to lose CP3 anyway, and they'll get nothing for it.

The trade to Dallas makes sense for LA. Nobody likes it but the truth is that Odom fits the triangle but not a conventional post game. He is an open court guy and he would fit in an offense that slashes to the basket. That's not the Lakers this coming season. It also saves the Lakers 32 Million over the next two years.
As far as a Williams, Paul and Howard, well, if Howard doesn't get traded this year, he will likely sign an extension with Orlando and he is not going to be an option for next off season IMO, if that happens. I don't know about Paul. I think he's headed for a legal battle with the league and if he wins that, he will be a Laker I think. If he doesn't, he may end up in Orlando next year.
Williams has stated that he is going back to the Nets. I am not sure where that leaves him for next year.

Orlando doesn't have the cap nor the players to trade for him. Because he is still under contract, it would have to be a trade scenario.

Another thing I just noticed the Mavs have one of the best benches in NBA history.
Lamar - Current reigning 6th man of the year
Jet - Former 6th man of the year and without question the best bench scorer
Carter - While he's not even close to the Carter we saw in Toronto he can still get you 15-20 ppg.
Roddy B - He was injured last year, but when he was healthy he proved to be very dynamic point guard who can score in bunches,
They have one again the best bench in the NBA.
