Trent Williams’ case highlights failure to reintegrate players into drug program

When the lockout commenced on March 11, all players in the substance-abuse program were released from the unannounced testing obligations — and likewise prevented from having access to the treatment and counseling available to players who have tested positive in the recent past.

As a result, 11 players who already were in the program tested positive in the days after the new labor agreement became effective. And Redskins tackle Trent Williams (http://www.rotoworld.com/player/nfl/5761/trent-williams) continued to test positive once the season began.

Per multiple sources with knowledge of the situation, Williams tested positive 10 times in September and October.

I'm happy that this jake is a Skin.

And yes I know this garbage is an ex-Sooner.

Wow.

Unreal.

I wonder how many games he'll get for that?

How do you even handle this?

He better hope that each positive isn't considered a separate offense or else he might never play again.

10 failed tests sounds more dramatic than it is. Testing that close together would result in multiple failures even if he only used once.

Over the course of two months? Not likely.

True probably not once, but he didn't necessarily use dozens of time. Especially since THC metabolites are stored in fat cells and shows up longer in bigger people. THC would show up longer in an NFL offensive tackle than the average bear.

But then he had some questions about him coming out of school.

While true, it's not really a defense he could realistically use.

You could account for his body composition and how extensively the drug distributes into fat tissue.

It can hang in your system for up to 45 days. That's why the NFL only counted it as one failed test.

THC can remain in the system for 30 days. It's also fat soluble, meaning it can stay even longer. When you start burning the fat, you can again test positive.
