I'm sorry that's tough to hear, it doesn't have a good survival rate unfortunately. I'm sending positive thoughts to your dog and family.

I'm sorry to hear that. My German Shepherd had parvo when she was a puppy and pulled through. She is 12 now. The best dog someone can ask for. I hope your dog makes it through. Lots of IV fluids and antibiotics. Mine stayed with the vet for two nights under constant observation and treatment. Be with her and stay positive with her when you can. If she pulls through it, she will be stronger in the end. Your dog with be in my prayers.

Parvo takes alot of pups...

Follow your vet's instructions to a T and your pup may have a chance...

Hope it works out for you... my dogs are like family to me so I understand your distress...

Keep us updated...

My doberman years ago had it and lived to be 5 or 6. So hang in there, maybe things will be okay.

A few years ago we had a young dog (a year old or so) that had Parvo and she made it through.

One thing that was crucial was keeping her hydrated and for a few days I was going every day to the vets office to get her fluids. They finally let me take the fluids home and do them myself, which saved me a bunch of money.

You might want to ask if you can do that as well, as it is also much easier on your dog to not have to shuttle back and forth to the vet.

Also, have some good carpet cleaner on hand for any accidents of rancid poo. I've seriously never smelled any animal poo like that.

Just want to thank everyone for your thoughts. Luna made it through the night and so far she is holding down fluids. Our vet did send us home with everything to treat her so now its just down to giving her what she needs and hooefully her body will respond and fight off the parvo.

So sorry to hear about your puppy :( I follow a lot of rescue groups on FB that save litters from shelters. They get pups that come down with Parvo at times. They usually give them IV hydration at the vet and watch them. I have seen some of them survive it. Saying a prayer for your pup.

I have a pit Bull who had Parvo when she was 8 months old, she was lethargic and didn't look well at all. Took her to the vet, got her treated and after 4-5 days she was getting back to her old self. She lost a lot of weight though, probably 10-15 lbs.

Depending on the age of your dog, the older it is, the better shot your dog has to pull through. Just give your dog as much love as you can, to keep it's spirits up and let the medicine do it's job. Thats the best advice I can give you. I will tell you, your dog will never have a closer bond with you than the one you build nursing them back to health. It makes you love them so much more. (BTW, she is 5 years old now, and perfectly healthy)

Hope it works out for you guys, just pray and give your dog love!

Years ago we had a dog with parvo. Gave her of Lots of IV fluids in the nap of her neck. She made it through. IV is really easy, without it she wouldn't have made it.

Just want to give everyone a little update. Luna was really bad on Tuesday. In fact I thought we would lose her. She was hospitalized on Tuesday but pulled through and came home last night. Thank you all for the kind words and thoughts.

Luna contracted a major infection while at the vet hospital. So now she is back at the vet but this time it is her regular vet and this is a major case of animal malpractice. Luna went through extensive surgery yesterday and will be in the hospital at least until Wednesday. Normally a dog that is recovering from parvo should not go through any surgery but if she didn't she would die.

Not only did she survive the surgery but when she came out and saw us she started wagging her tail. The doctor told us that she had a 25% chance to survive the surgery. So far so good, but she will be in for a long recovery. At least 14 days and now I have to consult with an attorney tomorrow. You all nailed on the head by calling her a fighter and now I will be doing some fighting as well.
