It's hard to blame Sunday night's loss on quarterback Tony Romo (http://espn.go.com/nfl/player/_/id/5209/tony-romo).

He played a wonderful game, completing 21 of 31 passes for 321 yards, with four touchdowns and zero interceptions. But the won-loss record will show Romo got the "L," moving his career record in December to 7-12.

Romo is 0-2 this month, yet he has played well. He has thrown five touchdown passes and zero interceptions with a 116.2 quarterback rating while completing 67.1 percent of his passes.

December is when the best teams finish their seasons in time for the playoffs, and the Cowboys are struggling in this area right now.

"We didn't get the win [Sunday night] and it was an important game," Romo said. "We have to come back [versus Tampa Bay], get better and get a win."

The December failures aren't all Romo's fault. He doesn't play defense.

They've never been all his fault. Just some foolish people who felt the need to try and pin each and every loss on one person.

Sunday was just another example of other parts of the team letting us down as well.

There are other great, even Hall of Fame, quarterbacks on teams didn't win titles or championships like Warren Moon and Dan Fouts. I think most reasonbly thinking people acknowledge they were great players on deeply flawed teams. I don't know why people turn their brains off when it comes to Tony Romo.

Same reason many turned their brain off on Danny White. For some winning and losing falls on the back of the QB despite the fact the QB only plays on offensive snaps not on defense or special teams.

I watched the championship game White played vs SF I don't recall Danny allowing the 9ers to march down the field for the go ahead TD or in coverage vs Clark when he made the winning TD catch but Danny took the blame by many fans.

I definitely don't blame Danny for that loss, but he did fumble on the last drive after Clark scored. If Pearson (or Hill?) doesn't get tackled by one finger by Eric Wright or if Danny doesn't fumble, we would more than likely have been a position to kick a FG by gaining a few more yards.

And that's the crux of the problem with shortsighted fans. Danny fumbled, so he caused the loss. Romo threw an int. on a desperation pass on the last play of the playoff game vs. NYG so he lost the playoff game. There is no scrutiny given to the myriad of other mistakes that shaped the outcome of those games. It's really sad.

Romo has the reputation of a choker. But I bet if you were able to accumulate all the experiences of most HOF Qb's they would have a similar number of bad losses as Tony has that were directly attributable to their mistakes.

If Romo played for the Steelers, he would have those rings instead of Ruthlessraper. If he had played for the Ravens he would have multiple rings where Dilfer had only one. That's my opinion and I'm sticking to it.

I understand that Danny fumbled but as you mention Pearson also is unable to break the tackle. I'm as big of a staubach fans as anyone here but when you look at the Hail Mary for the win vs Minn how was that a great play by Roger?

Roger threw it up and hoped it would be caught, Pearson is the one who had to go up and fight for the ball to make the play. So really the difference could be said that Pearson made a great play vs Minn that allowed us to win but was unable to make the play to beat SF but it is the QB who are looked at by so many as the sole reason for the wins and losses.

As for Romo I think he is doing all he can to help this team win but he can only do so much, people really need to wake up and see how fortunate we are to have a quality QB like Romo.

I agree completely! I hope I didn't give the impression that I thought Danny or Pearson was at fault.

No you didn't. I guess what I was getting at is how important the other players around the QB are and how their play can have a big role in that QB being the hero or the goat.

Romo has been playing brilliant... I fault him for only two loses, NYJ and Detroit.

If we make both FGs, then Romo (and the team) notches two December wins plus gets credit for two 4th qtr game-winning drives.
That's why some of this is such bs.

Since healing up from the broken ribs (some forget that he played the Detroit game without a second half pain shot for the ribs) he has been on the upswing. Not that he was bad at all before then except for a few boneheaded throws.

Hopefully, he'll keep playing at this level and we'll pull it all together.

It's amazing how the perception can be so wrong. Two FGs and Romo is Mr. Clutch and we're most likely division champs.
