The Cowboys have confidence in Felix Jones, and Felix Jones has confidence in Felix Jones.
"Any time you get a chance to get out there and help your team you are happy," Jones said. "We've just got to do what we can and make the best of every opportunity we get."
Now, with Murray lost for the season with a fractured right ankle and high ankle sprain, it's Jones' job again.
"As far as his ability to step in and be the lead guy, he is ready to do that," Cowboys running backs coach Skip Peete said.

Jones, who even stated he was able to learn a few things from watching Murray over the last month. "He gets downhill and gaining yards in every step. He's a tough runner. That's what I liked to see. It showed me maybe I need to run a little tougher. I learned a lot from that guy."
And Jones had no problem admitting that, even being a fourth-year pro and Murray still learning the ropes as an NFL rookie.
"You put your ego aside when it comes to the team," Jones said. "You definitely want to win. If you have a chance to get better, why not? That's learning from a younger back or an older back. Whoever it may be, if you can pick up something from them and make yourself better, why not?"

Man, It's nice to read about Felix Jones without all the biased defamation and cheap shots. Another good job by Charean Williams..
Felix sure is humble and a team player.
Murray stated earlier in the year that he learned from Felix Jones' patience as a runner. I remember reading it.
Again, Felix Jones is Dallas' best running back, and I would be looking to get him out of Dallas if I was Jones' agent, after this season. Jones sure shouldn't be treated the way the Dallas coaches have treated him. 6 carries in Arizona while averaging 6.0 YPC (6-36) and after rushing 16-77 (4.8 YPC), in 2010 against Arizona (under severe adversity on multiple fronts) ...0 carries against Miami while Murray's first 17 carries went for only 60 yards (3.5 YPC).
Murray had averaged 3.35 YPC in his last 3 games, coming into the Giants game, and the coaches were still not going to give Felix Jones the football, in that Giants game.
Unbelievable and dumb, imo.
16-106 6.62 YPC
22 touches 137 total yards 6.22 YPC
Felix Jones looked unbelievable against the Giants. Jones' jump cutting was lethal, and he was too fast and quick for the New York Giants once again. Jones was spectacular as a runner, receiver, and pass protector.
Jones has always been a tough runner, and Rodney Harrison stated that Dallas had a "star on their hands" if Jones stays healthy. (in the pre-season)
Felix Jones is hardly the only running back to miss games this year, and coming into the New England game, Jones had only missed 2 games since early 2009.

Awesome to hear that. These guys will be a very dynamic one, two punch next year for us.

"He's (Felix Jones) a lot more patient than I am,'' Murray said. "That's one of the things I watch during practice, during games. That's something I've tried to translate to my game.''

Again, Felix Jones is a very humble, team player, and he's extremely competitive. I'm not surprised that he threw Murray some roses, because he is such a humble, competitive, and team player. However, Jones' play, from the first time the Cowboys handed him the football in Cleveland until today, speaks for itself.
In 2009, Jones averaged 3.3 yards after contact per carry. Jones lowers his pads and drives through contact and finishes his runs strong and gets extra yards after contact.
Jones is one of the most elusive backs in the NFL according to Football Outsiders (12.9% "Broken Tackle Rate" in 2010). That 12.9% broken tackle rate put Jones at the top tier of the NFL and measured a running back's blend of elusiveness and power. In 2010, according to STATS, Jones was tied with LeSean McCoy in greater than 10 yard runs per carry.
It's hard to understand why the Cowboys coaches let Felix Jones average 3.66 rushes per game while Murray averaged 2.9, 3.9, and 3.1 YPC during the three game stretch, going into this Giants game.
Again, Jones wasn't going to get the football, again, against the Giants.
That is unacceptable.

Hmm.. interesting.
Would you say Felix Jones is a humble, competitive, team player?

It's not too surprising that certain elements of the Dallas media want to give Murray credit for Jones' explosive game against the Giants.
However, it was the third time that Jones has torched the Giants.
2010:
17 touches 136 total yards 8.0 YPT LG 71T
2009:
7-96-1 LG 56 (13.7 YPC)

Your knowledge of all things Felix Jones is impressive 41gy, if not a bit unnerving.

I'm a big Felix Jones fan, and I don't mind defending his record on the football field at all. Someone sure needs to do it, because the out right defamation of this player (within the Dallas media and by some fans) has been an ethical abomination.
How many big time Felix Jones fans are there on this board, anyway?
You should read some of the completely false things being written about Felix Jones after this last game, alone. It's an ethical abomination and simply a continuation of a clear pattern of biased, malicious defamation against Felix Jones. I could call off multiple names in the Dallas media.
Charean Williams has certainly been professional while covering Jones, and I do appreciate that.
I may be vocal in my defense of Jones, but I know that I can't be alone on that front. I'm just one person who you hear.
I had two people come up to me this week, and they told me that they don't understand how Dallas can justify not giving Jones the football.
I'm in SEC country, too.

I like Felix a lot..........I think these last few games Felix will show that he deserves more carries, and expect the ratio between him and Murray will be closer then some think.
If we get the oline fixed in the off-season then I think Garret will run the ball more and that means more carries for bother backs.
EDIT: I forgot 2....... add I think they will be a better version of what the Panthers have in DeAngelo Williams and Johnathan Stewart

I love both of our backs. Best 1/2 back punch in the league IMO.

Actually Felix himself said watching Murray has helped him

I like Felix and the Cowboys need him to come in and carry this running game. I have faith him

I absolutely love the attitude and approach that Felix is taking here. That's all class right there.
I'm realy excited to see what this duo can do next year. I'm hopeful they can get a lot of great work done and both stay healthy.

He's got a point though. Murray has said Felix has helped him alot in certain areas as well and you don't see the media talking about how much Felix has meant to Murray's success.

I agree. Murray has said he has learned from Felix as well and the great thing is they like each other and work well with each other. I also think Murray success was a motivator to Felix. It came as no shock that Felix had a very good game vs NY. I'm not saying Felix lacks talent or was not trying before but I do think seeing a teammate go out and produce as Murray did was a motivator for Felix

Competition breeds success. Both of those guys know they have strong competition for carries from one another, so it can only benefit the franchise in the long term. I'm looking forward to the next few years of seeing them dominate in our backfield.
