10.5 sacks in the little bit of snaps he plays:eek:

we need to draft/FA atleast 2 people that can get to the QB. One on the deline and one at olb.

i love our tyron smith pick though. I'm talking about next year we need to get someone of his caliber.

We definitely need some players who can get to the QB earlier and more often. Ware is the only guy.

I remember people comparing Aldon Smith to Vernon Gholston. Claiming that he played too upright and showed no ability to get to the edge whatsoever.

I don't think there was a draft prospect labeled as a bust more than Aldon Smith on this forum.

that is why the draft is a true lottery; there aint no such thing as either a guaranteed bust or stud.

Point being we need another pressure player. The days of claiming the OLB opposite of Ware doesn't need to bring pressure are over. Those who forwarded that inane argument should be marked and noted.

I don't care if Spencer remains on the team next year, we need more pressure players. That doesn't preclude bring in talent at the DE position too.

13.5 sacks for a rookie is really impressive.

I don't remember that, at all.

I remember rumors circulating that we were interested in him, and them being denounced as a smoke screen. But the guy's a beast. Plus, he had the cool big-play celebration a few weeks back.

That SF defense is really, really impressive right now.

THis just shows how hard OLB is. Smith has 10.5 sacks but doesn't start and is really just a pass rusher. It takes a year or so to develop into a true OLB. Thats why I'm not so dead set on letting SPencer walk. It's going to be hard for any rookie to come i and just take over SOLB day one and play full time.

If we let Spencer walk then you better have a Vet FA come in for insurance.

aldon smith looked demarcus ware like. I love the stunts 49ers run with him. He seems to be deadly on those stunts too going against a guard. Clubing the guard easily and getting to big ben. Impressive. Wish we had 2 top ten first round picks that year. Aldon Smith and tyron smith welcome to dallas:laugh2: .

I know Tyron fills a major need, but you can tell by my username that I'm a defense guy. Aldon is the guy I wanted us to get. Him opposite Ware would be deadly.

Tyron Smith was the better draft pck right now. I like Aldon Smith, he was my #1 SOLB in the draft last year even over Von Miller. I had Miller as the top 3-4 OLB but I didn't think Miller oculd be as good on the strong side in a 3-4.

Now youneed to look at Aldon's play this year before you think he could be great in Dallas.
First off, he doesn't even start and comes in on passing downs only. I know he will be a starter next year but were comparing Tyron Smith and Aldon Smith this year.
If Aldon was here he wouldn't be starting over SPencer because of the coverage and run stopping duties of a 3-4 SOLB, it takes time to learn that. Last year would have been a great time to take him, it would have given us a year to groom him to replace Spencer, but Tyron has been so good starting every play this year. Much better value this year out of Tyron than what we would have gotten out of Aldon.
