In fact, ours is easier than theirs.
The30YardSlant

That's not true.
The Cowboys have looked just as good against opponents of similar caliber...just for the entire game.:D
Detroit comes to mind.
Detroit is not "of similar caliber" and we played like *** for the final 25 minutes of that game.
We played very well against New England for about a quarter and that's the only thing comparable to what SF has done all night to Pittsburgh.

The30YardSlant

Having an incredible defense instead of not having one at all makes a big difference.
We have a defense, it simply isnt as good as the one in SF. The gap between our offense and theirs is just as great if not greater.
The biggest difference is they get KEY stops in close games and, frankly, are better coached as of right now.

I guess maybe if you consider the Bengals a good team. They have played 5 games this year vs good teams and lost 4 of them.
The only good team they have beat all season is NE at home. Other than that they lost to San Fran, Houston, Baltimore (2). They have a great defense but they are over rated. The one thing they do is take care of bad teams that they should beat.

What will it take for people to realize the "caliber of opponent" is a myth?
KC isn't in Green Bay's league, yet they beat them. St. Louis isn't in New Orleans' league, yet they beat them. Arizona is not in our league, yet they beat us.
Execution, execution, execution.
If you're trying to argue that a 17 point win against Pittsburgh wouldnt be more impressive than a 16 point win over Tampa Bay then I'm sorry but we'll have to disagree.
Oh, and Arizona is exactly one game behind us and there is a real possibility they will be drafting behind us in April.

At best, the Niners are the third-best team in the NFC. Is the NFC really that much better than the AFC this year?
Yes. I would take the Niners, Packers, Saints, Cowboys, Giants, and maybe even the Eagles on a warm day over the Steelers, Ravens, Patriots, or Texans.
Want to make it really crazy? I might even take the Skins over any of those AFC teams.

What was poor about the Cowboys play?
A team isn't playing poorly simply because it wins a tight game.
We trailed by two scores for much of the first half, and trailed by two scores again for much of the second. We couldnt block their front seven worth a damn and several times allowed Alex freaking Smith to march up and down the field against us.
Looking back on that game as a whole, factoring in everything that we did wrong and all the unfortunate breaks we got, it's incredible that we won. Truly one of the more unlikely wins I can remember, probably the most since the 2007 Buffalo game.

Not really. Aside from maybe the Eagles, who have a question mark at Center, and the Redskins who are hot and cold, one thing all of the NFC teams have in common is that they can protect the quarterback.
Pittsburgh's offensive line is a mess. Baltimore's biggest question mark is the guy taking the snap 60 times a game, and New England can't guard anyone and they've even struggled to keep defenders out of Brady's face against better teams.
The Skins played the Patriots to the wire. The Eagles are capable of getting hot once or twice a year and blowing out anyone in the league, even the vaunted Jets defense with Darrelle Revis.
The power is swinging back to the other side.

You've already conceded the Niners are a very good team. You've acknowledged the greatness of their defense.
Yet, when their defense demonstrates this greatness and flexes their muscle against the Cowboys, you claim it's indicative of "poor play" by our team. That's a specious, somewhat contradictory assertion, in my opinion. I'll point out that the vaunted Steelers' defense has surrendered 20 points to the same Alex Smith-led offense.
Essentially, you're denigrating the Cowboys' play and win against San Francisco because they didn't go on the road and beat an 11-3 team by 17 points.
I know it can be difficult to stomach, but sometimes, the other team just makes a play -- especially when they're a quality team like the Niners.

You're wasting your breath man - there are only 31 elite teams in the NFL and the Cowboys aren't one of them, unless the Cowboys win, then there are actually only 30 elite teams because the team we beat wasn't that good anyway.

The phrase "both teams played well" is misleading. Two teams cannot both play well in a single game of football. They can both play well at times, and both can play poorly, but if both played well at the same time you'd get a universe-bending paradox every play. One team wins every play in football. One team dominating means they are executing and the other team isnt, which by it's very nature defines good and bad play.

I'm not certain I agree with your reasoning. For instance, it's possible for a lineman to use perfect technique, and still get beat by a defender.
However, even if I grant the validity of your premise, it doesn't bolster your argument. Because very few NFL games are blowouts, your premise mandates that most games feature a mixture of bad and good play. Consequently, harping on the poor play of your team becomes pointless when poor play is such a common occurrence from every NFL team on a weekly basis.
