In today's world with some much media attention to everything and at our fingertips and in our face 24 hours a day people are much more aware of things like this, that what happened to them isn't just an isolated incident, and that it is okay to report it to the police. 40 years ago it was thought of as a scar on the entire family that was much more likely to be buried in the closet for fear of having the family being labled by society.
