Half day at work and I am determined to accomplish nothing work related today, so here goes:
Round 1: Jerel Worthy, DE, Michigan State
The obvious pick here is OLB or G, but I think DeCastro and Upshaw are both gone before we pick. There was a lot of smoke last year about JJ Watt, and where there's smoke, there's usually fire. Worthy comes in and locks down Coleman's side, allowing us to rotate Spears and Hatcher on the opposite end, with Lissemore spelling. Coleman is gone.
Surprise picks here could be USC's Nick Perry (OLB), Penn State's Devon Still (DE) and Arizona State's Vontaze Burfict (OLB).
Round 2: Vinny Curry, OLB, Marshall
I think the team may be pressed to make a decision between Laurent Robinson and Anthony Spencer. I think Spencer may lose out on this one, and we choose to resign a cheaper Victor Butler instead as an ace up our sleeve as we chase another pass rusher in the draft.
Surprise picks here could be Washington's Alameda Ta'amu (NT), Alabama's Mark Barron (SS) and Connecticut's Kendall Reyes (DE)
Round 3: Peter Konz, C, Wisconsin
With Konz' health concerns, there's a chance he slips a couple of rounds, as we saw last year from a couple of very good talents. If that's the case, we can grab ourselves a great center later in the draft. Hopefully, he's able to stay healthy (especially for his sake, since blood clots aren't just career threatening, but life threatening) and be the centerpiece of our line for years to come.
Surprise picks here could be Georgia's Brandon Boykin (CB/KR), Georgia's Ben Jones (C) and Arizona's Nick Foles (QB)
Thoughts? ;)
