I know Ron Dayne is becoming a joke in the NFL circles, but the guy lost weight last year a tore up the pre-season. I would not be opposed to it...
I'll take A-Train or Davenport though. BP is picky about what he looks for in RB's.

Not to burst your bubble or anything, but Dayne has lost weight every year and had great numbers in preseason. Last year Sportscenter did a segment on how he had lost weight, looked better, blah blah blah. He's a product of a great system in college. Doesn't have the quickness to make it in the NFL as a valuable RB. He seems like a good person with some talent, just not what you need as a valuable backup. A-train and Davenport though would be very good backups

I don't think Sedrick Hodge has been signed either. The guy has all of the ability physically in the world and is only 26. Don't know why there hasn't been any interest. Maybe he would be a good 3-4 ILB 4-3 WLB.

A guy I have liked since his rookie season- thomas Polley- the guy can fly around - he is an above average backer-What do the rest of you guys think

Polley is a real lanky LB, him and Hodge those are the guys I wouldn't mind us taking a flyer on. Maybe they just need a change of scenery.

Is this a legit list?
Lot's of names out there that could help the Boys.
I'm really surprised A-Train is available still. Seems like teams don't really place any importance on RB anymore. Would love to have a duo of Julius Jones and Anthony Thomas ... Bradford would be good depth at WR - better option than Dedric Ward ... Hymes is an intriguing young player who could become an Alvin Harper type receiver ..he was undrafted, so as an RFA would require no compensation, young, so he could play for the Boys for 5-6 years, and seems poised for his breakout season.
Several veteran DTs who could come in as part time platoon players ..
I fully agree with the previous player about Polley.
Some decent safeties out there .. any one of them has got to be better than Lynn Scott and Tony Dixon

Well, Slim Pickens was a real Cowboy, that's for sure, but hasn't he been dead for 20 years?

wow, pretty underwhelming list
don't see anyone that excites me or would represent a significant upgrade anywhere important....

I'd bet Dayne could have had more yards then E.George did for us in the same amount of carries. I say why not? he'd come cheap at this point, and give a nice powerful punch if we can't get shelton in the draft.

You don't have terry down at OT which Dallas has contacted him and would like to sign him when he finishes his rehab. This is from a report on Scout.com which is one of the times its not a retread and a good article.....

Product of the system. Not to mention nobody else ever tackles in KC.

That's the problem.....Thomas wants to start and wants starter money.

so why not get Dayne if we can't get shelton? definately a big powerful back, and is used to sharing carries, and being a backup. he;'d be cheap to

Muhast:
Dayne really isn't powerful, at least not anywhere near what you would think of a back his size...
I doubt Parcells would be interested in him...
I like A-Train, but as has been mentioned, he wants to start and starters money...
I think a bigger need is a real NFL FB...One not named BARNES!

We as fans see familiar names and assume that they have talent without even looking at game footage. Ron Dayne for instance is a familiar name because he was drafted so early, but also familiar because of all the 'bust' talk since the draft. I'm sure there was plenty of footage with him blocking for Manning last year as well as footage of him playing 'Hambrick'. All size no power.
None of these 'names' excite me. There will probably be better players come June.
