geez I'm so ready for the draft:

The Cowboys re-signed restricted free-agent offensive lineman Tyson Walter on Monday and released linebacker Marq Cerqua, who had been one of five players allocated to NFL Europe.

Walter, who signed a one-year, $656,000 deal, played in 13 games and started one last season. He began the season rotating with Al Johnson at center.

Rivera and Johnson reach deal over jersey number
Cowboys center Al Johnson has agreed to let veteran right guard Marco Rivera have No. 62 for an undisclosed amount.

"Let's just say it wasn't free," said Johnson, who will now wear No. 55.

Regarding his new number, Johnson said, "I just thought it looked cool."

Johnson wore No. 72 at Wisconsin.

Rivera must be feeling fine if he is already running and purchasing his jersey number, good news!

Who cares. I think it will look sharp on him as well. Mark Stepnoski wore #53. Anyway, Marcus Steele is no long on the team. So #55 was up for grabs.

Why did they cowboys drop Marq while he was at NFLE? Isn't it free (as far as roster spots are concerned) to take NFLE guys to training camp? Anyone know the answer to this one?

I don't think Marq Cerqua was good enougt to make it in NFLE training camp. So we cut him. We did the same thing when a running back (can't remember his name) didn't make it througt NFLE training camp last year...

Good info and makes sense.
He was only going to be a roster exemption if he made a team in NFLE.

Welcome and Post more.

I figured since Marcus Steele wore #55 that it would have been unofficially "retired" at this point in time. ;)
