There aren't many positive things to take from the Cowboys' season-ending loss to the Giants Sunday night. If you're really a glass half-full person, though, this little nugget of information might help you a little bit:

With the loss to the Giants, the Cowboys finished third place in the NFC East. That has implications on a few 2012 regular season matchups.

Instead of playing Green Bay at home (the NFC North Champions) and San Francisco on the road...

NY Giants, Philadelphia, Washington, New Orleans, Tampa Bay, Cleveland, Pittsburgh, Chicago

NY Giants, Philadelphia, Washington, Atlanta, Carolina, Baltimore, Cincinnati, Seattle

That schedule still looks a bit daunting. The Eagles underachieved and we match up horribly with them at the moment. The Saints will eat our secondary alive. Newton will give our slow defense fits and the Ravens play extremely physical on both sides of the ball.

We need to have a very successful offseason, especially on defense.

On the bright side, we do play the Bucs and Browns.

Each season is different. Looks good know or even early in the season..but by the time you play them they could be world beaters...Let's just hope the Cowboys draft well, cut the dead weight all around and come back better. If they do well in the off season I see a 12-4 season and maybe one playoff win. I still think the boys are 2-3 years out...but you never know.

It WILL still be daunting, but imagine if you took out Chicago and Seattle and added Green Bay and San Fran.

This is definitely the one positive to take from this outcome. And the #14 pick.

Please. I'd be willing to part with Romo and Ware for picks if I had any faith Jerry and Co. would select the right guy.

Well, if you think those two are the problem spots on this roster..... good luck.

We'll also start the season on the road in Baltimore and end the season on the road probably Philly again. It doesn't matter that much but I am sick of opening the season on the road all the time and ending it on the road all the time.

There's no silver lining in a loss.
