Does Tide have advantage over Tigers in rematch?

NEW ORLEANS (AP) — From Florida State's Sugar Bowl meltdown 16 years ago to New England's stunning Super Bowl loss, history suggests that it's tough to beat an opponent the second time around.
Top-ranked LSU is looking to write a new chapter in its Big Easy do-over with Alabama.
"The opportunity to play them again is something we're going to embrace," Tigers star Tyrann Mathieu insisted Friday.
Not that they have much of a choice. The Tigers (13-0) already beat the Crimson Tide once this season — on Alabama's home field, no less. But they'll have to do it all over again to claim the national championship, even if that seems a bit unfair.
Bobby Bowden can certainly sympathize with LSU.

I don't think anybody has the advantage TBH.

This is the most uninterested I've been for a Championship in any sport in a long time.

Don't know why but it just seems to do nothing for me.

I'm hoping for a sloppy game to be honest. Uglier than the first.

Kind of rooting for Alabama because Saban is a West Virginia boy. I saw him play QB in high school.

But if Alabama wins, it will be a toss up with each having one win.

So for that reason, it will be better if LSU wins I guess.

LSU beat them once, in Alabama. They shouldn't have to play them again.

Curious, but why shouldn't they play each other again? They're the 2 best teams in the country.

Alabama was the better team the first time. Missed 4 fgs and still lost in OT.

Alabama was the better team the first time. Missed 5 fgs and still lost in OT.

They lost therefore LSU was the better team.

Alabama had their shot, .. they lost to LSU, .. at home.

Give someone else a shot.

If Alabama wins, then it is 1 win for each, but Alabama will be National Champs. I would not like that if I was LSU.

LSU fan and Alabama fan talking ....

LSU fan: "Do you know what is harder than beating Alabama twice?"

Alabama fan: "No, what?"

LSU fan: "Beating LSU once."

I don't think they have any advantage. I do expect to see a good game, better than the 1st match up as each team has had almost a month to game plan the other team.

True but both teams know going in this is for all the marbles. It is not going to come as a shock or surprise to LSU fans if Bama is crowned the champs if they win.

i think LSU will win and in pretty convincing fashion. their Defenses are pretty equal, but LSU's special teams are better and their offense is FAR superior, plus it will basically be a home game, i bet LSU wins by at least a TD

well, when a game is 7-0, its infinitely better than the zero!

True. I expect this game to go down to the final min of the 4th qrt. Both teams have outstanding defense. I think Bama missed some oppertunities in the last game that I don't think they miss this time around.

I think LSU has the better QB now he did not start and played after LSU struggled and he was rusty from the suspension.

Just my take on it but I think the Tigers are the better team

I think this is a snoozefest in the making that the nation will likely not tune into in great numbers, i fully expect some of the lowest neilsen ratings in college football championship history.

:laugh2:

It'll be the highest rated title game in history. Just because you can't appreciate good football doesnt mean the rest of us don't. These two teams might as well be part of an NFL farm system, half the players in tonight's game will be NFL starters at some point.

LSU fan here.

If this will be a low ratings game, why are ticket prices so high. Averaging $400 more than last year's game.

If you don't like the matchup, then don't watch. Nielson won't miss you.
