Bailey Knaub, 16, was mobbed by her teachers and students when she returned to Thompson Valley High School in Loveland after meeting Tim Tebow on Sunday.
"They wanted to know the whole story from beginning to end," Bailey said Monday, also noting that she received 42 new Facebook "friend" requests. "They were so jealous."
Tebow mentioned Bailey, a junior, during his postgame remarks Sunday night, saying the big overtime win against the Pittsburgh Steelers paled in significance when compared to the health struggles she has faced.
Bailey has Wegener's granulomatosis, a rare vascular disorder that has forced her to undergo 73 surgeries in 10 years, the most serious of which was the removal of her left lung in 2010.

Nice story. I'm sure it meant a lot to her. When players give their time like this to kids it means the world to these kids.

This family's connection to Tebow is not surprising. I live in the same community as the Knaub's. Her dad Rob was a young teacher and coach when I was in HS there and retired recently. He is very much like Tebow himself in his faith, humility, genuineness, likeability and sincerity.

Rob Knaub is Tebow without the spotlight.

The world needs more Tim Tebows.

I hope he wins the Super Bowl and goes to the Hall of Fame.

There is just something incredibly genuine about that guy. I can't help but finding myself rooting for him.

Same here.

I've stopped trying to figure out why people have a white-hot, blind hatred for the guy.

Me too. In fact, I would argue if he wins a Super Bowl and has at least five good years starting in the NFL, he'll get in with a shorter body of work than most quarterbacks. I say that because ...

1. The read option is likely going to be the next copied offensive scheme as both Tebow and Cam Newton run it and many college quarterbacks coming out (like RGIII) are showing the ability to both run the ball and pass.

2. It's called the Hall of Fame not the Hall of Stats. The NFL hasn't seen this type of phenomenon regarding a player. One year isn't enough to establish a legacy, but if he wins a Super Bowl in the span of five years, I think it will be easy to answer this question: Can you write the history of the NFL and omit this player? If you can, the player doesn't belong in the Hall of Fame. If you can't, the player belongs in the Hall of Fame.
A Super Bowl win will cement his legacy faster than it will any other player in NFL history, with the possible exception of Joe Namath.
