Yeah can you imagine going 15-1, being touted as one of the best teams in history, everyone calling their QB the second coming and not even winning a playoff game.....ouch!

I think I'd still rather have it that way than the Patriots 2007 season.
People will forget this Packers season rather quickly -- they'll never forget the Patriots 2007 season.
How well do you recall the Vikings 15-1 season in 1998? Yeah I didn't think so -- me either.

Yeah you're right but if I was a Packers fan who would have drank the media Kool-Aid thinking this team was unstoppable and that Rodgers is the greatest QB who's ever lived then I would be completely speechless right now and feel like you know what!

The Vikings aren't a large market team. The Packers have a much larger following and fan base. People still mention the 15-1 Vikings season (Randy Moss' rookie year). People won't forget this season for the Packers. The bullseye on them was much larger than the Vikes, and they are a much more visible franchise due to a larger fan following.

Their QB is still the 2nd coming. Not his fault they lost. It was on atrocious defense particually the secondary and the recievers constantly dropping passes.

Not sure many people, including Packers' fans, didn't consider that the 32nd ranked defense in the NFL and 2nd worst ranked defense IN THE HISTORY OF THE NFL might end up having a game exactly like they did yesterday.
The question that should be asked is how the heck a team with the 2nd worst defense (yardage wise) in the history of the NFL ended up 15-1 and not 1-15 as you might imagine with a defense like that.

I was sure this was a thread about Brainpaint's sex life when I opened it up. So glad it is not.
Personally, I love that the Vikings went 15-1 and then choked away the season on the leg of their perfect kicker. One of my favorite playoff exits, ever. But then, I have friends from Minnesota.

It was one of mine too mainly because the Vikings were so cocky and arrogant that season and hadn't complete the task of winning the Super Bowl and then got burned in their own stadium. Although the one unfortunate thing is it did ruin what could have been an epic Super Bowl between Denver v. Minnesota. Two explosive offenses going at it.

I thought the same thing. Vikings and Greenbay will go down as the biggest choke jobs ever. Both should have won the Super Bowl. Packer nation must be on suicide watch this week.

Why should the Packers have won the SB this year? They had great results when it comes to win-loss record. They also had a great offense, but their defense was horrible. People were right to question if the Packers were going to win it all this year with their porous defense. You don't need the absolute best defense to win championships, but you need better than the worst defense.

I thought they were the only elite team (maybe the Saints) in the league. They played their worst game at the worst time. I still think they are the best team in the league.

Then maybe that says something about how mediocre the league is right now. The Packers had no balance. The Saints were very similar with their putrid defense. I think that can get you far, but it is difficult to win it all. The Packers offense played its worst game of the year. Their defense just played a normal game by the low standards they set for themselves this regular season.

If they cut all 11 starters on defense and replaced them all with draft picks and street free agents, would could the defense possibly perform worse than they did this year where they gave up the 2nd most yardage in the history of the NFL?

I think you are wrong. Over the past 5 years the Packers have averaged 11 wins a season. They had the youngest roster in the NFL last season and one of the 5-6 youngest rosters in the NFL this season.
I don't see any reason to expect the Packers with Rodgers just now getting into his prime to do any worse than that in the near future.

Just pointing out that they have a different situation than the Colts. It'll be tough to churn out 12 wins if their defense continues to be ranked last in the league.

I do believe the Giants will be in the Super Bowl. But I guarantee the Pats will not let this one slip away if they get past the Ravens, which I think they will with that offense going through those two TE's they have. That and I believe that horrible defense found some confidence against the best running game in the NFL in the Broncos.
Brady and the Pats will win, and frankly, I hope they do! Do not want SF or the Gnats winning. Go Pats!

I tell you the difference as I see it. The Pats were 3 years removed from their last SB and the Viks never won it.
The Packers are the defending SB Champs and did go the route of a wildcard team last year to win it.
In my book that gives them a good bit of that "benefit of the doubt collateral". Am I crushed as a Packer fan this week? Of course, but I'll get over it quick, appreciate last season and look forward to the next.

You can't be serious. There's no way either of those teams will win it all without upgrading their defense. Defense wins championships. You can have a great offense, but if you can't get crucial stops it doesn't matter.

The Packers were crowned champions in mid season coming off their Superbowl win. Their expectations by almost everyone were through the roof as the season progressed. At least the 07 Patriots and 98 Vikings fought hard and came close in their losses, these Cheeseheads were completely dominated by their lesser opponent. This collapse was epic in every sense of the word. Had to be brutal to watch as a Packer fan. Just brutal.
