I think I got a virus on the PC. Every thing I type into my browser comes up to some goofy search engine. I have run spybot and also another web site scan for virus' and they say come up with nothing. For example. If I type in the browser www.yahoo.com I get:
http://www.myexexex.com/search.php?said=pfxp&qq=www.yahoo.com

And no matter what I type in I get that with the original thing I typed at the end. I have no clue what to do. Any help would be great. Thanks.

Also, the other website scan I did was from one called housecall.com, I think.

You have some utility now that directs your browser to a "My XXX" site? My advice is stop downloading porn! :p

LOL. If I would have done that it wouldn't be from this PC. I have no idea how this got on my PC. The web site though that it goes to is a porn site by the way. I can't figure this out..

You said you used spybot....try using adaware....

http://www.lavasoftusa.com/support/download/

It does not sound like a virus...it actually sounds like spyware.

After running that program and deleting any spyware...download this program

http://download.com.com/3000-2094-881470.html?tag=list

Regcleaner and run it...If you see any software with the myexe names then delete it from there. Do not go deleting everything this program finds as many are legit programs on your system...this is a registry cleaning program.

Once you run that and delete everything out....go online to a site you want to be your homepage and reset your homepage.

I tried downloading the reg cleaner from the link you gave but it says it's downloading but nothing ever happens. It won't download. Any other ideas? The first thing went down ok.

If that one does not work do a google search for regcleaner and try some different sites.

That link worked and I downloaded it and it worked fine, but I saw no files that had myexe anywhere on it. I am stuck until I can call norton I guess.

Do like I do, at a MINIMUM every six months... wipe the drive and start over. I have my C drive at 4 gig which is just over the amount needed to support Windows XP. EVERYTHING else that I install is on the D drive and so forth... I don't lose anything except my cache and anything I have in my internet history, because I back up my start menu and favorites before reformatting. Depending on your hard drive size, I would partition a part of that drive as a backup, and just use Norton Ghost to make an image of your C drive about once a month. Makes it incredibly easy to restore everything if you mess it up...
