according to League sources adam jones's urine test at the combine last month has raised red flags....
My speculation: Does this mean it was watered down or outright failed?
will this affect where he goes in the draft?

I remember Charlie Rogers had the same problem and he said he drunk too much water. I don't understand how drinking too much water could be a problem.
Rogers turned out clean, so it didn't affect his draft status obviously. If he turns up dirty, then he's prolly still a first day pick, but not a sure first-rounder IMO
Even so, I think he pretty much goes in the system now. He's gotta take more tests to prove he's not on something. And if he is, he subject to the CBA substance abuse rules, I guess.

All speculation at this point.

If it's too watered down they think you are trying hide something.

If you are attempting to beat a drug test you are told to drink 2 gallons of water a day for a week before the test. The water flushes your system essentially.
The other thing is tho you could drink nothing but water mixed with creatine(and severely limit solids as well) for a week to be at peak definition and size. Bodybuilders do that in their cutting stage.

Drinking 2 gallons of water a day won't clean you system out for some drugs like weed. When you smoke weed, the THC is stored in your fat cells so the only way to get that our of your urine would be very intense training. Also creatine causes water retention so I doubt they would believe you if you said you were cutting. Most bodybuilders try to dehydrate themselves while cutting a few days before a show so they have no water weight.

Creatine pushes water into your muscles which in effect swells them but at the same time it dehydrates the rest of you. I know from personal experience you are always thirsty. Especially when combined with cardio.
Creatine is obviously most and best used for bulking up but used in low quantities with just water it will in effect balance the water you are putting in your body and keep you from having a traditional bloat. Instead you have muscle bloat.
BBers use this method to keep from dropping muscle when they go to a cutting cycle.
Granted that someone trying to just plain drop weight this would not work at all.

How much cutting are you talking about? Since you are pretty new to the fitness world I would say it's not so much that you will be competing so why not go ahead and use creatine as you cut? Unless you are looking to drop down below 8 or 9 percent you should be fine if you take creatine as you try and cut down. Reason why I say this is because it is proven in research that creatine definitely helps the body decrease body fat.
A couple years ago I dropped down to 8 percent or just below 8 all the while taking about 8 to 12 grams of creatine a day. Plus, I was using Phosphagain 2 so in reality I was taking about 16 grams of creatine on heavy training days and about 12 on my lighter days.
I am currently using Bolt by SAN Nutrition and dropping my body fat just fine and looking much more cut as I go. But everyone is different so you may not be as lucky as I. Most are not. Having trained for so many years it definitely give me an advantage over those who have just begun the iron game.
Do your best and take what I've said here however you want. Keep an open mind and look for many avenues of information so that you can truly make an informed decision.

remember Randy Moss-
wouldnt pass on this kid because of a failed marijuana test- if thats what it is- other stuff like cocaine etc - buh bye
Funny how a couple knuckleheads a year get caught KNOWING they will be tested. This is a new Dallas draft team led by Parcells. This is now detail driven, looking for football players, smart players that can be counted on.
Pac Man can go get his munchies elsewhere. He was so overrated in any top 10 overall situation. Rolle is a far better CB and prospect anyway. This hurts Dallas - more than helps because we aren't drafting Corner in 1.
