IRVING, Texas -- Offensive coordinator/offensive line coach Bill Callahan, who will be introduced to the media today with secondary coach Jerome Henderson (http://espn.go.com/nfl/player/_/id/7081/jerome-henderson), is coming into something of an unknown situation with the state of the Cowboys’ line.

He knows Doug Free (http://espn.go.com/nfl/player/_/id/10565/doug-free) and Tyron Smith (http://espn.go.com/nfl/player/_/id/13978/tyron-smith) will be parts of the five-man operation, but will Free and Smith flip sides from where they were in 2011? Right guard Kyle Kosier (http://espn.go.com/nfl/player/_/id/3751/kyle-kosier) ended the season with a torn medial collateral ligament in his knee. Phil Costa (http://espn.go.com/nfl/player/_/id/13552/phil-costa) started every game at center, but is he a long-term answer? The left guard spot is open for competition with Bill Nagy (http://espn.go.com/nfl/player/_/id/14096/bill-nagy) coming back from ankle surgery and Montrae Holland (http://espn.go.com/nfl/player/_/id/4560/montrae-holland) and Derrick Dockery (http://espn.go.com/nfl/player/_/id/4539/derrick-dockery) set for free agency.

The Cowboys should seriously consider signing Carl Nicks and drafting David DeCastro at number 14. Those two moves should make a major impact in the interior of the offensive line; furthermore, those two moves should make a major impact on your offense as a unit. You are investing in the strength of your team, the offensive skill players. You are making your offensive skill players extremely dangerous by continuing to put blue-chip players in the offensive line.

Dre Kirkpatrick will most likely not be at 14, and the thought of investing another first round pick at SOLB isn't very fun. I don't see a dynamic pass rusher at 14 right now.

DeCastro >>> the next OLB drafted in round 1
