If the pats win it all, can brady be considered the greatest of all time?

Absolutely. As much as I hate the guy you simply can't deny his accomplishments.

I still think you have to give the nod to Dan Marino or Peyton Manning on a true quarterbacking standpoint.

I don't see a whole lot separating Staubach, Young, Manning (the Greater), and Brady at this point.

I think you can have that conversation now regardless if he wins it this year.

In my day it;s Montana. If Brady wins another, he may be number 1 in my eyes.

Montana used to be my number one, but Brady has pretty much done it with nobodies.

Exactly. Different rules. Different mindset regarding offensive philosophies. Imagine Staubach or Bradshaw with these kinds of rules.

Not in my book. And I doubt that I am in the minority.
There would be plenty who would make the claim. Not sure that HE would though.

If he wins it both Brady and Belichick become the greatest of all time at their respective spots.

No. Cheaters who are responsible for defiling the integrity of the game can never be considered the greatest of all time.

Brady's up for the discussion as it is.

The thing that facinated me about Montana is that he never had a turnover in any of superbowls he played in. That's 4 games with no turnovers against the the 2nd best team in the league.
Much of the game is not how many great plays you make, it's don't hurt your team with bad plays. But Joe certainly made countless great plays in those games.

I've always thought Brady was better than Peyton. Still do. Peyton is a great regular season quarterback. But Brady surpasses him when it comes to playoff wins and, of course Super Bowls.
Brady has taken lesser offensive teams to the Super Bowl. For all the talk about Wes Welker, teams know how to shut smaller receivers down when it comes playoff time. Brady hasn't had a big-time receiver with the exception of Randy Moss. Yet he has done what it takes to win three Super Bowls. And, really, it was his defense that let him down for a fourth.
The man is right up there with Joe Montana and John Elway in my book, the two quarterbacks I think are the greatest eva.

I'm 26 years old, so my firsthand football history starts when The Boys were winning super bowls in the 90s. I've watched a lot of Peyton and Brady. Throwing out stats and super bowl wins, Peyton is the most impressive QB I've ever seen, and if I had to pick one player in his prime to build a team around, I go Peyton. Just the way he controlled an offense was breathtaking.

Second best team in the league my foot. Remember, this was the 80s - the 1st best, 2nd best, ... probably all the way to 5th best were probably in the NFC most times he won.
Seriously,
'81 Cowboys vs '81 Bengals (not even close)
'88 Vikings vs '88 Bengals (not even close)
'84 Bears vs '84 Dolphins (OK, maybe)

so the greatest of all time in your eyes depends on the outcome of one game?

I'd still give the nod to Joe Montana. In 4 Super Bowl appearances, which were all wins:
83 Comp 122 Att 68.0% 1,142 Yards 11 TDs 0 INTs 127.8 Rating
That's insane.

Am I the only one who thought Brady kinda played like poop? That kind of performance with this Cowboys cast of characters gets you beat by 3 TDs

In the SB Joe Montana has stats that are beyond crazy. And he did it early on without Rice.

It would be hard for me to just put him above Elway, Montana and Unitas as the greatest of all time, but he will certainly be in the conversation if he wins this next Superbowl. Has to be.

And the Pat's won by three points. Wonder how the game would have turned out had Brady not had that first INT overturned on a horrible call. The call that kept the drive alive leading to three points.....

Plus he missed several wide open, easy TDs. He also seemed very late and hesitant on his throws the entire game, despite not getting much pressure from the Ravens front (Ngata is so ridiculously overrated it's not even funny).

He's already in the discussion, IMO, and if they're able to win another one this time around that puts him firmly in the discussion with Montana, who I believe is the greatest of all time.
Especially when it comes to the biggest game of them all, the Superbowl. Just look at the stats provided above to show you how much Montana raised his level of play in the biggest game of the season.
With a W this time around that will firmly plant Brady in the discussion.

If Championships are the standard, then it has to be Otto Graham. 10 championship appearances in 10 years. Won 8, lost 2.

Never thought of the '88 Vikes as a force to be reckoned with, BTW I think the Niners beat the Bears 28-3 or something like that in the '88 NFCC game. The '88 Bengals were a pretty darn good team and almost beat Joe cool's 49ers. I knew I should have put theoretical 2nd best in there, oh well. I can give the '81 Cowboys but not the '89 Rams over the '89 Broncos. Still my main point about Montana's efficiency in the 4 superbowls was mind blowing.

He's in the conversation.
But like all GOAT talks, it will always just be a matter of opinion.
