His two costly fumbles contributed to San Francisco's overtime loss to the Giants Sunday in the NFC Championship. Teammates, others felt his pain, but some resorted to cyber-attacking Williams.

@KyleWilliams_10. I hope you, youre wife, kids and family die, you deserve it

Jim Harbaugh, please give @KyleWilliams_10 the game ball. And make sure it explodes when he gets in his car.

Sad. The downside of being a professional athlete.

Some people have some real mental issues. I'm sure Williams feels as bad as anyone about what happened yesterday and it kills me to see so called fans who act like this.

I'm not shocked. I wish I could say I was, but that would be a lie.

I can only hope that watching the reactions of Steelers, Packers, and 49ers fans after their playoff losses this year has educated some of our fans that their fellow fans, whether optimists or pessimists, are really not all that different from any other team's fans.

Cowboys fans feeling sorry for this kid? :laugh2:

Crayton never was the same around here after that 07' game.

If we had a player that had gave the game away the game all by himself like this kid, there wouldn't have been threats....I think some fans might have pulled it off (murder I mean).

Did Lee Evans get death threats too after he dropped the game winning TD against the Patriots?

Who was it on the forum who was recently saying Dallas has far more stupid fans? I don't recall seeing too many death threats sent to our players.

Jackie Smith is lucky he played in the era he did. He had it tough after his drop in SBXIII, but I fear things would have been much worse for him if it happened today.

Those aren't death threats. They're mean, hateful, over-the-top and down right spiteful. But they're not death threats.

The San Fransico fan base has taken a beating lately. I was reading about how they were planting cops, in civilian clothes, in the stands for yesterdays game in order to catch people who were acting like morons the week before against the Saints. Just disgusting, hateful, stupid behavior.

Now you get this crap to go along with it? Are they trying to be in the running with the Philly fan base for the most vile and pathetic?

The level of importantance people put into their favorite sports teams wins and losses is alarming.

Probably a bunch of Raiders fans who jumped ship over the last several years and became 49ers fans.

It's a good thing they did have undercover cops. The 49ers fans are quickly becoming the most unsportsmanlike fan base in all of sports. The parking lot shooting (http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/6881597/two-shot-candlestick-park-parking-lot-oakland-raiders-san-francisco-49ers-game) during the Raiders game was at Candlestick Park after a brawl in the stands.

I don't feel bad for him, because both plays are 100% preventable, but this kind of behavior is sickening.

If I were him, I would go to the authorities and have charges pressed against those folks. Federal crime if it's across state lines.

A real one would be this

"I will find you and kill you."

I cringe when I read this stuff. It puts all fans in a bad light. Nobody should put that kind of crap out there. It's one thing to be angry, it's quite another to act like a pathetic coward.

The one about the exploding ball, I'm sure, was a joke.
The other one sounded like a typical deranged fan. with no life.

I can't believe the luck of the Giants lately. Obvious interceptions where the two defenders run into each other, wounded duck pass that could be fair caght by the DB, but is not......and the.......the only real injury on the 49ers was Ted Ginn, and his poor replacement handed them the game. Twice.

I wouldn’t say random posts on Twitter equals a real death threat. I would think more along the lines of people going to his house and making it personal. Those are real. Throwing a rock through his window with a note tied around it written in blood, is a threat.

Too bad, he cost his team the Super Bowl.

Pathetic. It's just a game folks.

What is wrong with you? Yeah he had two huge mistakes, but it's just a game to threaten someone's life over a football game is just pathetic.

Because if I'm him, I'm screen capturing ALL of them and taking them to the local PD and go after them for making terroristic threats.

First of all, it's not like he's actually in danger. Those guys on twitter aren't going to actually fly to San Fran and kill him. This isn't the Middle East and it's not cricket, that kind of thing doesn't happen.

I've said probably 10000 that I'd kill Eli if I saw him on the street. Should I go to jail?

You shouldn't go to jail, but making a legit death threat is completely crossing the line.

You can never be too sure nowadays. There are plenty of crazy, deranged people walking around. Plus it's not too far fetched to think someone would attempt to kill another person over a sporting event. Just look at the incident I posted where someone was shot in the parking lot at the Raiders/49ers game. There was another story where someone was shot when the Saints lost to the 49ers.

If someone makes a life threat on another person, regardless if it was knee jerk reaction, it should be taken seriously.

Hostile hit this one dead on.

Even Cowboys & Lakers sees the problem with this one.

It's a game. Grow up.

I do think Eli wears a helmet that is a size or two too large however.

That was also Raider-on-Raider violence. NOT 49ers fans.

Eh it's part of the game. Always has been, it's only more evident now because of social media. It's not "right" but what can you do? Fans have been saying this stuff for YEARS. He's just lucky he's not in a country or culture where they actually would come after him like some of the soccer-crazy nations.

I don't know if you've actually been paying attention in the last, oh, 20 years but this world isn't the one that people grew up in during the 50 and 60s.

You can't take things too lightly anymore because you just never know what kind of stupid things that the stupid people in this world will do.

Huge difference between a player and a ******* fan from an opposing team.
