Report: Dolphins sights set on Peyton Manning
1/25/2012 4:33:44 PM
A Dolphins team source emailed Armando Salguero of the Miami Herald (http://miamiherald.typepad.com/dolphins_in_depth/2012/01/dolphins-priority-would-be-manning-first-flynn-as-fallback.html) that the team's priority at quarterback is Peyton Manning. This coincides with news out of Mobile, Ala., where the Senior Bowl is going to be played Saturday. A league source there tells Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald that the Dolphins have shown no interest in Matt Flynn as of yet -- not even informal interest.
Now, teams are not allowed to show formal interest in soon-to-be free agents at this time. But at those Senior Bowl practices, where agents and team personnel departments mingle on the sideline, it's common for preliminary signs of future interest to be displayed. In fact, it's almost expected.
That combined with the e-mail says the Dolphins will wait until there is a clear course of action on Manning -- when they know if he's going to be in Indy or on the market, when they know his health -- before they decide what other direction to take.

That'd be an interesting move.
Definitely give them a boost.
They have some players down there too. I think Devon Bess would absolutely thrive with a QB like Manning.
He played well without a QB, he's got some wiggle and he's supposed to be one of the hardest workers around.
You put him with Manning and I think Bess has a great year.

The team who should go after him is the 49ers.

Has he ever had a receiver like Brandon Marshall?

Marvin Harrison was one of the best receiver in football for years as was Reggie Wayne.

What I meant was a receiver with his size in addition to his skill.

Why? You don't think the 49ers can win it with their high school quarterback?

Why? You don't think the 49ers can win it with their high school quarterback?Because with their Defense and his arm with those weapons and OL they could win it all easily.

In related news, water is wet. Yeah, you put Manning in San Fran and the balance of power in the NFC just got lopsided real quick like. A defense that can grind you down into oblivion with an offense that can put up points at will.
Peyton would go out like Elway, with multiple back-to-backs.

I agree...if Manning was on the 49ers this past weekend they beat the Giants like 38-17.

I don't know if they can be penciled for 11 but they'd be above .500

i think Peyton is the Sheldon Cooper of Football ... take him out of his offense and his comfort zone in Indy and he will freak out.

I would say to any team that gets Manning you better have a QB in the wings that you are going to groom behind him if not this may be an expense and short ride.

They are such idiots. If I were a Dolphins fan, I'd be absolutely furious at that owner.

If he can comeback healthy and be the Peyton Manning we know then yes he's certainly going to help anyone he goes to.
The 49ers would be extremely tough to beat with a healthy Peyton Manning at QB.
I'm sorry I'm just not convinced he's going to be healthy and the Manning we all remember.
Hopefully he proves that wrong.
