Sources: Dolphins on Manning's short list of desired landing spots

According to Omar Kelly of the South Florida Sun-Sentinel (http://www.sun-sentinel.com/sports/miami-dolphins/fl-dolphins-peyton-manning-0204-20120203,0,7261621.story?track=rss), an NFL source says Miami is on the short list of teams Manning would like to play for when/if the Colts release him to avoid paying a $28 million bonus, which is due on March 8.

Manning and his wife own a condo on South Beach and a source said they'd love to relocate to South Florida if the fit is right. A second source confirmed Manning's interest in the Dolphins.

Playing for the Dolphins would allow Manning to remain in the AFC, and the Colts are on Miami's schedule next season, which is an added bonus.

Dolphins owner Steve Ross has openly pledged to do everything in his power to land a franchise quarterback this offseason, and NFL sources say Manning is at the top of the team's list of targets, which also includes Green Bay backup Matt Flynn, who has learned under new Dolphins coach Joe Philbin the past four seasons.

I've already made two bets with Miami fans that this will happen.

Did I just see "Matt Flynn" and "franchise quarterback" in the same sentence? :lmao:

definitely would be ideal considering reggie bush played very well last year and they have a great receiver in brandon marshall

Wait, I thought he is coming to DCNope, and neither is Robert Griffin III. Cleveland is going to trade up to #2 for him.

I think Peyton should have a one hour special on ESPN to announce his decision.

"I'm taking my talents to South Beach and will join the Miami Dolphins."

Nope, and neither is Robert Griffin III. Cleveland is going to trade up to #2 for him.seems like they would get tired of teaching QBs to take a snap from under center.

This move makes a bit of sense. He'd have a decent running game and a pretty dang good WR to throw to. That offense would be instantly better, again assuming that Peyton will be 100% healthy by the start of the season, and their defense wasn't too shabby to begin with. It would need to improve but this would definately help them over all.

I will bet that the niners are also on that short list. If Peyton is not permanently injured he can Win 1or 2 SB in the next 2 yrs.49ers are a much better team than dolphins. Good QB's win superbowls only when they also play on GOOD TEAMS

As the ultimate competitor, I can see him loving going up against Brady twice a year.

That team is pretty good outside of quarterback, anyway. They've got a really good defense.
