I have to believe they knew they were gonna make this move a week or two ago. Crappy to do Underwood that way. I would be sick thinking I had gotten so close to living a dream and then have it snatched away...

Wow. Belichick is a heartless POS. The day before the Super Bowl? C'mon man.

he should have whooped Belicheats ***......let him stand on the sideline of the super bowl with an *** whooped face, then i hope Undertwood goes to Coughlin and tells him the Pats game plan.....Belicheat has never had any player loyalty and i hope he crashes his rental car and ends up in the hospital tomorrow before the game and has to watch it on TV......

He was replaced to add another defensive player. Why does Belichek owe Underwood anything? He's trying to put his team in the best position to win, not write nice touching stories for fans to consume.

I doubt it's as bad as it sounds. They had to do it today because the Giants could've picked him up off waivers had he been released earlier. If this was the regular season, they'd try to get him back on their practice squad and that's what they'll probably do next week.

He'll probably still get to be at the game on the sidelines for them.

The article says he still gets a ring if they win.

The ring is great, but it is still not the same as actually playing in the game. I don't know how much, if any they would have played Underwood, but to play at all would be a dream come true.
I am not saying the Pats shouldn't have made this move, I just don't buy for a minute the timing. I don't believe B.B. did this on the spur of the moment...

Getting a SB ring would be great but it comes with the assumption/memories of being on the sidelines/probably playing in the game. Getting cut nite before the game, frankly I'd be bitter. At some point, I'd probably sell it simply cause it would be too painful to have around & also I'd probably need the money since I wouldn't have a job -- unless another team picks me up. I certainly wouldn't resign with the Pats--even if they interested in me.

He was probably told it was going to happen days ago.
