With all the controversy concerning the NFL running a regular season game in London, Jerry Jones is now hinting that the Dallas Cowboys might be interested in playing a game in Mexico during the regular season. The London game is currently on hold while the St. Louis Rams' stadium filed a legal injunction, but with Jones owning Dallas Cowboys' stadium, that shouldn't be a problem.

I have a slight problem with this as a fan because I feel bad for the season ticket holders. I almost guarantee they won't lower the price on season tickets but will eliminate one home game to make room for it. I am pretty sure that is the problem with the London game since it takes one game away from St. Louis, the town the team is supposed to represent.

I like the idea of playing preseason games in London and Mexico. That gives foreign countries a chance to see NFL football and I am sure helps raise awareness and make even more money for the NFL.

It's Marketing 101...

I don't like it, but you have to appeal to your base. My wife was born and raised in Mexico and could care less about football. She knows the Cowboys well and can name players even though she doesn't care.

She said the Dallas Cowboys are big business in Mexico...

Should it be a surprise to any of us by now that the GM's first offseason move is related to sales and marketing and not quality improvement of the product being sold?

Go Jerryboys!

Something tells me the fans in Mexico would put those in Dallas to shame when it comes to giving them a real home field advantage.

NFL has wanted Dallas to be involved in the London game and Jerry has been able to get out of it. In the case of playing in Mexico it is a short flight that would not take us out of the normal routine and it will appease the NFL.

I have no problem with it. In terms of making money? sure this is what business do in America you look to promote and make money. In some countries that is considered a bad thing here in the US this is what we do. To come down on Jerry or any business man for promoting their business and making money is ridicules. "Oh my Jerry is going to make some money" Damn Right

Not a bad move for the team.

Link for Jerry saying this? He's said before he wouldn't play a home game away from Cowboys stadium.

Jerry has not said they are willing to give up a home game the writer of the article is saying Jerry likely would not mind since he owns his stadium.

If I were a season ticket holder who shelled out up to $150,000 for a seat license--not including interest on the payments--I'd scream bloody murder at the mere mention of this. If the team did go through with it, I try to join in a joint lawsuit against the team.

It would be the loudest home game in Cowboys history, easily.

Nothing more than creating a market to keep that merchandise factory by the air port busy.

They should play a preseason game down there like they used to. It always did really well.

Well, they weren't killing 9 people a day in one single border town back then either.

I don't know though if the underworld powers that be would screw with an NFL player. Would the backlash be worth the multi-million dollar ransom? Would they go after a kicker instead of say a LB'er who'd put up a nasty fight if he wasn't shot at the outset of the kidnapping attempt?

Almost 18,500 murders in Mexico from January 1 through May of 2011. The information is hard to tease out because the "official" rates don't include incidental homicides so "officially" only 13,000 people were murdered from January through September of 2011 in Mexico.

"Officially" there were only 2500 murders in Juarez in 2010. Newspapers, citing morgue reports, show 3500+ murders in 2010.

If I were a player I wouldn't go. I don't care how much security they have, I have hispanic friends with homes that won't go back and when they do it is a quick visit. The come back with tales of their kids being followed, one witnessed a murder in front of his house and other tales of mayhem. Nope, I would tell Jerry to keep my check that week.

Does Arlington have an arrangement like St. Louis?

What do the seat licenses require of the Cowboys?

I live in Mexico and it ain´t that bad, just like most countries and cities you got to avoid certain places, specially at night, but believe me when I say this, we don´t live nearly as afraid and as bad as people, TV and newspapers make it out to be. The problem down here comes from drug cartels that are willing to do everything to get the drugs to the US, so basically all or most of the stories you hear about are from this same cartels fighting and killing each other.

Metaphor “Don´t come to Mexico or to any country for that matter if you are going to do something illegal or mess with the wrong crowd” other than that nobody should have a problem with coming to Mexico. IMO.

Getting Back to the original point I really do think that for one game the Cowboys would have more of a home field advantage down here, Mexico loves the Dallas Cowboys.

People keep assuming Dallas would be the home team in Mexico and lost a game at Cowboys stadium but 1st off nothing has been finalized as far as playing in Mexico or the Cowboys being there and if they are they will be the home team.

So my question if Dallas does play in Mexico this season and ends up not losing a home game does this change any minds?

Why play a game in Mexico when all the Mexicans are here?

The Cowboys popularity in Mexico over the last 5 years has dropped immensely. When I first moved here to Acapulco in 2003, it was easy to find Cowboys hats, shirts, other team products in the malls, stores and open markets.

Now I cant find diddly for Cowboys gear. There's plenty of Squealers, Cheatriots, Fudge Packers, crap to be found.

Every Sunday the Cowboys game was on local TV and cable. There was 4-5 games this year I had to watch online because it wasnt broadcast on local TV or cable sports networks.

Jerry knows he lost lots of fans here, so I can see him wanting to renew the team brand in Mexico. I bet he tries to convince the NFL to let the Cowboys play in Mexico to avoid having to play in Europe.
