That's a huge commit for the Longhorns... if it holds...

That's a huge commit for the Longhorns... if it holds...

"I just really wanted to stay inside of Texas because my parents, my family and everybody could see me play," Swoopes said shortly after confirming his commitment with Texas head coach Mack Brown. "I had already visited the other schools in Texas I was looking at and I just thought Texas was best place for me."

The 6-5, 220-pound Swoopes is currently rated as a five-star prospect in the 2013 class and the No. 1 overall prospect in the state of Texas. The multi-sport star also ranks as the No. 1 player in the state in the latest Lone Star Recruiting rankings.

we got a'shawn robinson yesterday and jake oliver the day before(dude plays like hines ward) and ricky seals-jones has said that he and swoopes are pretty much a package deal. class of 2013 is starting off right.

btw this tells me that ash pretty much has this year and this year only to prove he can win us ball games.

oh and it sounds like both robinson and raulerson will start out on D

We also got Jake Oliver WR yesterday. 6-4 200 lbs. Together with RSJ, that's going to be a heck an Offense. This is shaping up to be a really strong class for Texas, once again.

FYI RK

"More could be on the way, too, as Sealy receiver Ricky Seals-Jones could make a decision by the end of the day between Texas and LSU."

i really hope he STAYS committed to Texas! It seems like recruits make a show out of their commitments now a days, switching back and forth, all just for attention *cough* mario edwards *cough*

he seems like a fine young man though who is interested in his family, so hopefully he will keep his word.

i liked what he said here! (about bryan harsin)

"Every time I talk to him he's asking about the family, how's basketball going, how life is going in general," Swoopes said. "Some of the other coaches, all they care about is the football part of it. He's kind of different from everybody else."

mack brown with these last two classes is really making an effort to recruit more SIZE everywhere but particularly in the trenches to go against SEC teams.

Love thr mean and nasty oline Texas is recruting lately. Much different than 2009 where they were talented but soft.

It's rumored that Ricky Seals-Jones will give a commitment Wednesday and according to BurntOrange, it's Texas.

Texas also received a commitment from RB Kyle Hicks from Arlington Martin on Saturday.

According to Rivals, he's currently ranked 13th overall in the Nation and listed as the top WR of the 2013 Class. Of course, this could change up or down but he is top 20 as of now.

RSJ is a beast. Swoopes is an athlete trying to figure out how to play QB.

Between Swoops, Brewer, McCoy and Ash, one of those guys will emerge and be a good starter.

However, the last time we had an athlete trying to fiugre out how to play QB, he won a National Championship for us. I feel good about being able to bring in Swoops, with our current Coaching Staff and making a finished product out of him.

Those are two very good signings IMO, assuming of course, that we get RSJ.

RGIII was also "an athlete trying to figure out how to play QB" so were tebow and vick and eric crouch and the list goes on and on. the success rate between those guys and traditional pocket passers isnt much different in college football

Texas told JT Barrett that they won't be taking anymore qbs for 2013.

It will be very interesting to see how Barrett, Swoopes and Cody Thomas turn out. Hopefully there aren't any regrets like Andrew Luck, RG3.

Griffin always had an excellent arm, and Eric Crouch and Tim Tebow never learned how to throw.

On the other hand, both Crouch and Tebow won Heisman's and were on National Championship Teams.

Are you implying that Texas' new plan for success is to dump Harsin and Applewhite's pro-style attack in favor of the triple or spread option? If so, good luck. If not I'm not what your point is. Eric Crouch would have been a nobody in any offense that required him to throw the ball more than 10 times a game.

No, I'm implying that to use Crouch and Tebow as an example of what you don't want in a QB is an opinion that nobody in their right mind should have.
