FORT WORTH (CBSDFW.COM) – The Cowboys have an obvious need at offensive guard. The unquestioned top OG in this NFL Draft is Stanford’s David DeCastro, who performed as advertised at the NFL Scouting Combine on Saturday. He may very well be drafted before the Cowboys pick at #14. If DeCastro is available at 14, a question the Cowboys have to answer is do they want to spend a 1st round pick on an offensive guard, normally not a premium position, or can they find a starting OG to their liking either later in the draft or in free agency?

Some Scouting Combine O-Line observations:
David DeCastro – OG – Stanford – 6-5, 316: looks like he’s a no-nonsense throwback interior offensive lineman who will play at a Pro Bowl level over the next decade….benched 225 pounds 34 times…said to have a 20-inch neck, non-stop work ethic….would be a rock solid pick.

Cordy Glenn – OT/OG – Georgia – 6-5, 346: ensured himself a whole lot of money at this combine….a mammoth, versatile behemoth with 35 ¾ inch arms who had 31 bench reps and was amazingly light on his feet in drills….made 50 career starts at Georgia, 32 at guard, 18 at left tackle…his performance may have moved him to mid-1st round where the Cowboys pick…while DeCastro is strictly an interior lineman, Glenn has position versatility which adds to his value. The Cowboys could play Glenn at guard, and if they had an injury at tackle, move him outside.

That was a very good right up, especially about DeCastro and Glenn.

It's like Mike Lombardi stated about "taking an offensive guard high in the first".

You go by the grade, and if the player has a blue-chip grade (projected to be top 5 at his position), you take him. The grade should determine the player's value, not his position.

It's the same thing with Trent Richardson, imo.

Hope you are doing better, cowboyjoe. I know you have had a real tough stretch.

The board wouldn't be the same without you. Thank you.

Still not impressed.

Do you see that neck? You need a yard stick to measure that thing, you might even need two of them.

Among those who were unimpressive for one reason or another: projected 2nd round pick OG Brandon Washington (http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/draft/players/1664199/brandon-washington) (Miami), OG Rishaw Johnson (http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/draft/players/1245021/rishaw-johnson) (Calif, PA), OG Rokevious Watkins (http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/draft/players/1665322/rokevious-watkins) (South Carolina), C Michael Brewster (http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/draft/players/1620010/michael-brewster) (Ohio State), OT Marcel Jones (http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/draft/players/1619882/marcel-jones) (Nebraska), and OT Josh Oglesby (http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/draft/players/1263566/josh-oglesby) (Wisconsin).

Did anyone else see anything about Brandon Washington the Miami OG??? Many on here had hi in their 2'rd mock.
