also Torrodney Prevot was offered.

the new staff is doing a great job evaluating talent with fewer schollies available this year. i really like all of these players.

hopefully kent perkins, darius james and prevot all commit soon.

That's the top 3 recruits in the State of Texas so far. 5 of the top 10 and counting. This is shaping up to be a great class for UT.

I find it funny that all of these Longhorn recruits or promises of a signed recruit stories get published here.

Just imagine if we all just off the cuff started posting every single commit to our own beloved programs?

Its like the Horn fans have infested the SZ. :laugh1:

Another thing...you guys act like its the second coming of a national title just because you signed some good kids. I have never seen so many Horn threads started just because you have a kid commit. Kind of funny really... :p:

Doesn't Texas ALWAYS sign good kids and dont they typically ALWAYS underperform based off that top recruiting number? I guess I don't get the whole "shiny" threads you folks keep throwin up in the SZ as if its some new thing in Austin. The horns have ALWAYS been top 10 recruiting for years, so is this really new?

Just sayin...

No reason to get worked up over this Dallas. You can post the signings for OU. There are a lot of OU fans on this board as well.

Oh I am not worked up over it at all. Just making the comment. We have never had every commit coming to Texas posted here before until this year.

Curious as to really....why.... more or less. :)

Well, it's a pretty important time for Texas. They have been down for two years, they lost a lot of recruits last year because of all the turn over in coaching, a lot of people, many on this board, were saying that Texas was done. It appears as if this new Coaching Staff can recruit. As to announcing every signing, well, in the past, big recruites have been talked about on this board from TAM or UT or OU or lots of different schools. It just so happens that this year, to date, every single signing has been a 4 star top 100 kid thus far.

Besides, there is no Football being played. I like the fact that we can talk college recruiting or draft during the off season. It's what keeps you sane. I'm not opposed to seeing recruiting talk from other schools. You just have to post it.

Seals-Jones is a much more polished and college ready player than Swoopes who will almost certainly require a redshirt year and will take his lumps during the early stages of his playing career.

People forget that Vince Young was pretty lousy during his redshirt freshman and much of his sophomore years before the exploding near the end of the 2004 campaign. He was raw just like Swoopes is.

i think of it kind of like rain in a drought. when there is no drought, it rains, you are just kind of like, ok......

but in a drought, it rains, and you get excited about it! maybe the lake will fill back up, the creeks will have running water for the white bass run! etc. we always have had good classes, but we have struggled at QB and TE since colt and finley left, so the potential those two kids have makes it exciting! like a tropical storm hitting a drought stricken region i guess.

agreed, but ill take 1.5 lousy years if the other 1.5 are as great a vince's were.

well first of all what the hell is going on with OU? have they simply given up on the state of Texas? stoops' plan to shift to a more national recruiting philosophy might backfire b/c he is destroying the connections OU has built with the high school coaches in Texas for his successor.

anyways, as for the threads...recruiting is an addiction of mine. i know it's pathetic to some extent to follow the decisions of high school kids this closely, but i'm very interested to see how UT makes it's way back to the top. the last two years have been an embarrassment, a lot of it because of lazy recruiting from the previous regime. so i'm excited about what's happening now...slower evaluations, a better strength and coach program, and a fresh, young energetic coaching staff.

Why do you think that's arrogant? He's a Grey Shirt. He has offers from LSU, South Carolina and OU's Bobby Jack Wright is recruiting him. His Brother went to UT as well.

they had obviously discussed a greyshirt opportunity behind the scenes. i think it shows the kid's love and desire to play at UT that he would rather take a greyshirt over LSU, South Carolina, and Baylor offers.

great job by the staff by being diligent with this offer. now I expect Darius James to follow his good friend soon.

The Longhorns have received a pledge from Killeen Harker Heights outside linebacker Naashon Hughes, who has agreed to a greyshirt offer to become Texas’ 11th commitment for 2013.
Being a greyshirt means that Hughes can either enroll in the fall of 2013 as a non-scholarship player and be put on scholarship in the spring, or enroll in the spring of 2014 on full scholarship.

Hoza Scott, Rivals #1 rated player in the class of 2014 will be attending this years Longhorns Spring Game. This is interesting in that it has been rumored that he is interested in Bama and is a TAMU lean (legacy). That has to be good news for Texas I think.

According to reports from the Nike Football Training Camp in Dallas on Sunday, Raulerson and Prevot went at it.
