This 500 has been outstanding....why?
cause thanks to the beginning of the race, we don't have to deal with the Danica Patrick watch all race. Johnson is out. Gordon is out. Jr. is in strong contention. Ok, the Montoya wreck is a never been seen before incident.
i just hope they can get back to racing so Jr can get back to victory lane where he hasn't been in what seems like a decade.

One.
She averaged top ten finishes seven years.
If you understand racing a little you would know you don't judge a driver simply by the number of wins. There is more to a drivers prowess than just that.
Jr. Has done next to nothing for the last few years.

You specifically called her a winner when she won ONCE.
If you understood racing a little you would know that a top 10 in a field of 26 cars (half the size of NASCAR) is not a great feat, especially when driving for Andretti.

I'm not sure why you made that Jr. comment. If I had to rank the top 15 drivers in cup, Jr. wouldn't be on the list. If he was, he'd be at the very bottom.
You're talking about a guy who has 1 win in the last 5 years and that was a fuel mileage win. Despite driving in top equipment for much of that time.

Oh I understand it plenty. To deny she has skills is simply absurd and demonstrates a profound ignorance of racing.
And she is a winner. She has won. By definition she is a winner. Just keep on hating. If thing Tony Stewart would waste his time on her without any skills you are nuts. You obviously don't know Stewart.

That was my point exactly. People are complaining about the attention Danica is getting because they don't think she has any skills to be here. By comparison Jr. Has had the same kind of troubles getting into victory lane with all of the benefits afforded to NASCAR royalty with great equipment.

She would not be in the ride she's in now if she wasn't a woman. She's got some talent but the teams she's raced for are significantly better than her performance on the track.
As for Stewart, it's real simple. Danica has a sponsor devoted to her. That's big in this economy. And the reason that sponsor is so devoted to her and willing to go where ever she wants to race is because she's a female driver.
That doesn't mean she doesn't have talent. It means she doesn't have anywhere near the talent to attract such attention and opportunity.
Much like, ya know, Dale Earnhardt Jr.

Now you are putting words in my mouth. She wouldn't have made it into the top series of racing if she didn't have some skill. I'm not saying she doesn't have some skill, I am telling you she isn't worth all of the attention she gets. It is great that she is breaking the gender barrier but I am not going to praise her or care about her when she has yet to prove herself. She was just above average in a 2nd rate series and has yet to blow anyone's doors off in NASCAR. When she starts competing at the top I will start to care.

It still doesn't make sense to me. As much as I think Jr. is a completely overrated driver, he's won 18 cup races over his career. Danica has won once at a top level.

On a side note, Pocono is my "home" track. Went there for over twenty years fighting the lousy entrance that Matioli didn't want to spend the money to widen. Then I found the back way out behind the tunnel turn. :laugh2:

I don't know why they are blaming Biffle, I think he is dumb for not going for the win himself, but if you want to protect your teammate in probably the biggest race ever, then so be it. That's on him.
Junior did the best he could with NO help. All his teammates were out (not sure if Kahne came back or not, but even if he did, he was in no position to help). He made a good move, but made it a little too late. I don't think going sooner would have changed the outcome. Kenseth was FAST!

I really wanted to see Blaney win. He was one of my favorite sprint car drivers.

If I was part of that #16 crew, I'd be furious if my driver didn't at least pull out of line and make an attempt to pass. He wouldn't finish any worse than second. Instead, he finishes third.

Dale Jr. The ardent Washington Redskins fan.
It makes me sick seeing Cowboys faithful loving this guy.
Hostile, back me up on this one.

Wait, so Biffle is wrong there but Dale Sr., the Nascar God, was okay with what he did blocking for Michael Waltrip and Jr. in the final laps of his life?
Just a little consistency. That's all I ask.
As an aside, if I were Kahne, the last guy I'd help would be Jr. He left Kahne out to dry earlier in that race like a bleepin bleepedy bleep.
Bleep.

I personally believe if he hadn't been blocking he'd still be here.

Dale did not have the car to win and knew it so he blocked instead. I don't have anything negative to say about Biffle or why he did not try to make a stronger run at Kenseth

Well, it's hard to say. Maybe it was fate. Maybe he was destined to go out that way. But he clearly was blocking. The first time I've ever seen Dale not try to win a race.
To me it was his finest moment. Nobody had any more of a desire to win than he did and he put his son and his buddy driving for him before his own success.
He went into that wall and left this Earth knowing his cars were going to be 1-2 in the 500. That was pretty sweet and I'm far from a fan of his.
