Talked about baylor wr, who had a poor 40 time, but you always go on production and what the tape shows by his playing on the field.

Talked about matt jones who jerry wanted, but jerry got talked out of it, something about the scouts having the news on matt jones with his drug use too, but jerry stilll fallingin love with matt jones from arkansas trying to figure out a way to get matt jones

talked about quincy carter, how jerry (we were going to take lb bell) but jerry had the scouts all go out from the room, just leaving jerry, campo and stephen in the room, some guy had talked up quincy to jerry. So jerry bought it, forgetting what his scouts told him about his marj use etc.... When scouts were ushered back in the room, jerry had quincy carters name back on top of the board instead of bell.

broaddus did say sometimes scouts blew it too on picks, but most of time their right in my estimation.

talked about a few other things but cant remember now, oh yeah, seems broaddus thinks that whover talks to jerry last on draft subjects, thats the way jerry will go, something like that.

In other words he took another opportunity to take shots at Jerry the Cowboys and everyone else's mistakes as a scout yet failed to mention he ever got one wrong.

Yeah I agree he obviously carries a grudge and isn't willing to give the Cowboys much credit for what they do right. He doesn't really say much that average fans don't say either.

For all the Waaa WAAAs about Jerry, when he let Parcells be the last guy to talk to him, he still ended up with Bobby Carpenter and crew. Parcells wanted Julius or Kevin Jones over Jackson, Spears or Merriman over Ware, etc.

And even if it were true, we still have the advantage of Garrett being the last guy in the channel. He's known a few scouts in his day.

Hey, I've got an idea. Let's hire a GM with a scouting background so he's qualified to make these decisions. You know, actually let a GM who is qualified to the job a GM is supposed to.

Precisely the reason why we had to get Lacewell out of The Ranch .. as his best drinking buddy, he was always the last guy in Jerry's ear. They must have really tied one on the night before that Quincy/Tony Dixon in the 2nd round draft.

BP made getting Lacewell out of the process his #1 priority when he came in.

If it was me, I would hire Bill Polian has an advisor to act as a sounding board on all personell decisions. Can't hurt to have someone with that type of experience be your devil's advocate.

Joe did a good job with the recap. That was quite amazing when Broaddus was talking about Jerry running all the scouts out of the room regarding Quincy Carter... Said Ciskowski and Ireland were against Carter, but of course Jim Donnan had been Carter's college coach and was a huge advocate of the Q. Seems like Jerry sort of rigged it so he was hearing what he really wanted to hear. (But of course Jerry is just an information gatherer and figurehead, right?)

Also, a little more detail on the Matt Jones bit -- they were talking about not putting too much emphasis on the combine workouts (said don't sell Kendall Wright short, for instance), and Broaddus was asked if a combine workout ever made a real difference on drafting someone when he was with the team. He said not really, but talked about how Jerry loved Matt Jones and used his great combine workout as evidence to try to push him up the board, especially after Parcells got to draft a defensive player (Ware) earlier.
