i know they could still lock him up to ease up the number but on the surface 9.4 mill for a punk whio quit on them last year could be the worst move of all time..

obviously they want to trade him; even reid cannot think keeping him around is a good idea.

I could see him going to the Rams, don't know what they'll get out of him though.

I have been thinking they'd do this to try and move him as well so that they at least get something out of him instead of just letting him walk away out right.

I don't think Jackson with a 1 year $9M deal attached to him has that much worth to a completely rebuilding Rams team.

Would in a sign and trade.
That's an interesting idea.
Rams trade #2 pick for:
2012 First Round (15th Overall)
2012 Second Rounder (45th Overall from Arizona)
2013 First Round pick
Desean Jackson
Eagles would go into the draft with:
2012 First Round (2nd overall - Griffin)
2012 Second Rounder (46th Overall)
So from the Rams perspective, by dropping down 13 spots, they would get a mid second rounder, another first next year, and a legit dynamic playmaker like Jackson. That's a good bargain.
From the Eagles perspective, they get Griffin in the First and still have a pick in the 2nd round. They give up their first next year, a player they were going to let walk anyhow (Jackson), and the extra 2nd they had to get Griffin.
Sounds like a win-win.

Wow...a mediocre player that was only blessed with speed getting paid as a top 5...no way they can trade that guy for more than maybe a 3rd and that;s if he gets a contract that better suits his talent, which ISN"T as a top 5 WR, plus he has Rosenhaus...I believe the "gold standard" of the NFL will get embarrassed on this move:laugh2:

HAAAAAAABAAAAAAAHAAAAAAAA!!!!!
$10 mill guaranteed on a 1 yr deal for a guy that was jogging his routes in December and was too busy telling jokes to the dbs to actually turn around and try to catch the ball. I wacthed the Eagles game agaisnt the Seahawks last year and Jackson didnt ever put his hands up several times when the ball came his direction, seriously, the dude just quite playing the last 3-4 games of the season.
Another great move by the "dream team".:lmao2: :lmao2: :lmao2: :lmao2:

Tim McManus of Philly Sports Daily reports free agent DeSean Jackson plans to sign his franchise tag tender "ASAP."
The Eagles have shown a willingness to rescind the tag, but it's at least mildly surprising that Jackson and agent Drew Rosenhaus wouldn't believe they could top $9.5 million per year on the open market. Perhaps they realize other teams view Jackson as a head case in need of image repair. Rosenhaus indicated early in the week that he'd "roll up his sleeves" in hopes of converting the franchise tag to a long-term contract.

In your contract year you do the best you can to act right and show all the right things.
Unless you are Desean Jackson when you do the exact opposite.
Does he and his agent think no one notices?

The Philadelphia Eagles (http://espn.go.com/nfl/team/_/name/phi/philadelphia-eagles) have placed their franchise tag on wide receiver DeSean Jackson (http://espn.go.com/nfl/player/_/id/11283/desean-jackson), the team announced Thursday.
The deadline for teams to use their franchise tender is Monday, March 5. He was scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent on March 13, when the period for transactions begins at 4 p.m. ET.
"We want DeSean to be an Eagle for the long haul and this is a step in the right direction to accomplish that," Eagles general manager Howie Roseman said in a statement. "DeSean is a talented player and a proven playmaker in this league and we look forward to him continuing his career in Philadelphia. It's our understanding that he has the same desire. We will continue our efforts on getting a long-term deal done with him."

Exactly..if he don't fit in with conVick he won't fit in anywhere..they will be surprised at the lack of interest in him....there are better in FA why trade for this headcase?

I very seriously doubt Jeff Fisher is gonna want any part of a problem child like D Jackson after some of the guys he had to deal with in Tenn....maybe, but i wouldnt think so

If the Rams are going nowhere next year, and realistically they are not, why sign and trade for him when they can wait a year and sign him as a FA next year without surrendering anything? The Eagles won't franchise him twice.
There will be better value offered to them for that pick.

I didn't know there was any talk about him coming to Dallas. A below avg WR that takes plays (and games for that matter) off is paid as a top 5 is not going to bring much in a trade.

Actually, it won't. Because Schefter is reporting the Eagles are shopping Jackson even after tagging him.
